I want to get a sunburst tele with cream binding and a rosewood neck... where can I get them, and what current fender models have this?

I was thinking Fender Japan- how does one order from them?

You can put a Squier CVC on your list. If this not all that you want a swap of the pickups, the neck and saddles aren't difficult at all. Or do a search on Ebay for a CVC body and purchase which ever neck, pickups and hardware you like. It's an alder body just like an MIM or some of the MIA models.

Yes, I'm extremely tempted... how do Japanese tele's feel and sound?

    Wonderful.

Honestly? They're pretty much on par with the MIAs IMO. The only edge the MIAs have is that they tend to hold their value better on the used market.

Japanese Fenders are typically awesome. Some say inferior pups, pots, switches but all that stuff is easily swapped down the road if you choose.

I do often notice that the Japanese ones are very multi-piece bodies. Lots of join lines.

Tone-wise doubt it matters, but aesthetically with translucent finishes it matters to me. Solid colors I could care less...

Depends which model. If you go tx model they are normally 3 piece. If you go vsp or dmc, 2 peice
