So, I'm loving the tone of my new-to-me Li'l Dawg WonderDawg, but can't get it anywhere past 2 without blowing out the windows. It came to me with a Weber 12A125 Classic, and I'm currently trying a C Rex, but still very loud.

So, recommend me an inefficient 12" speaker that I might try...been wanting to try WGS if they have one.
    Thanks,
    Tom

The C Rex is a loud speaker. Greenbacks are known for being pretty inefficient.

Search on eBay for vintage 12" alnico guitar speaker, you'll see lots of old candidates from organs, etc. Lots of the less well known brands sound great for low wattage applications, and are very reasonably priced too.

I really like the WGS green beret and reaper. They make a great pair!

I have a vintage tiny magnet ribbed cone Jensen that's rated for about 10 watts and is probably quite quiet, that I could let go of. PM me if you're interested.

Otherwise, old organs often have great alnico speakers in them, and you can often find them on eBay too.

93dbs. Almost an attenuator, right there!

    Sounds the part, too

    Dirt cheap

Greenback is pretty efficient IMO. The Jensen Mod speakers are inefficient. 93.7db for the 12-35, 94.3dB for the 12-50

At 96db for the Heritage series and 98db for the Classic series, I wouldn't call the greenbacks efficient. Granted they are not as inefficient as some of the other recommendations on this thread.

What is the wattage of The Wonderdawg? Looks like it comes in 12, 25 and even 50 watt forms. Some of these speakers are only rated to 20 watts.

What wattage is your Wonderdawg? I've been talking to Jim. I have Jensen Neo Tornado. 4lbs 100w and 97db efficiency, that I would put in it. If I order one.

    Weber sig's are inefficient.

Also the Tone Tubby Chicago Blue is low on the efficiency charts, though with a hemp cone. Very cool speaker.

I believe the Weber DT series are somewhere in the middle, though definitely less efficient than the speakers you're using now.

My WonderDawg is a 12-watter. I've been wanting to try WGS, so that's where I'm leaning now...

12W is lots for home. Yes it'll rattled the windows. Think about a L-pad attenuator. I had good results with my home built 5E3. Another option is a Weber 10a100 10" speaker. That'll knock it down. Problem is baffle size would have to be dealt with. Sigh...Oh the peoblems we have at home with great sounding circuits, when cranked.

Wow, $49? As another poster said, how can you go wrong at that price? I read some other reviews of this speaker, and almost all were positive, so...just ordered a WGS G12Q. I'll let you know how it turns out, and may have. C-Rex up for sale soon...

Can anyone help me pick between a WGS G12Q and a Weber Alnico 12S? It would go in a Univox U42, which (from what I can tell) is an 8w amp. I love Weber stuff and think I would prefer the Alnico, but I wouldn't mind trying a WGS.
