Handwritten card with your own art.
Maybe dinner certificate for her and her friend. Friends are
very important at that age.

My mom's basement.
I'm not good at gift-giving, just don't have a good ability to find things people will really like. I want something special, but don't have a lot of money. She wasn't helpful in offering suggestions. So what does TDPRI recommend?
I gave our kids money - a little cash for some short-term fun and sacrificed writing a bigger check for each one of them with instructions that was only for starting an IRA account or their schooling.

OP is from wisconsin so I assume his daughter already got a couple favre jerseys.

If you daughter is vegetarian maybe a nice father daughter BBQ outing is in order. One thing I like to do with my own daughter is substitute venison for beef without telling her. Surprises don't have to be expensive! Or enjoyable for that matter!
I am so glad I am not related to you or know you. But now I know what to put in your coffee if we ever meet.

Old people generally can't buy gifts for young people. Just ain't in the cards. There's a one in ten thousand chance you might swerve into it and buy something that won't embarrass them lit alone like. I give fifty bucks for small kids, and more distant relatives. In family gets a hundred bucks. special occasions net two hundred. That's my limit.
