    Hello All

I hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

I'm considering getting a delay pedal and I went down the rabbit hole on YouTube and learned a few things but in the end I'm plugging a Tele into it so what not ask the Tele fraternity what they use and like.

Budget wise in the $100 - 200 zone

I don't need the looper tap tempo stuff, all though reverse could be fun.......

    Thanks

    Gary

Dunlop Echoplex. By far the most fun I’ve had with a delay pedal in many years. Fantastically organic sound.

I have the DD-2, DD-3, RV-3 and RV-6. I used to have real Echoplexes, but that got silly.

For analog sounding stuff: any echoplex knock off or the DOD rubberneck is underrated- Rubberneck has tap tempo, self oscillation, etc.

For digital- Almost anything is pretty good. Digital relies on a few main chip designs - sonically not as much variance.

I prefer tap tempo any either so you can do dotted 8ths and other common delay tricks.

Also if you can find a deal or budget allow: those Strymon delays are something special.

I like a set and forget it Delay so I traded my EHX Canyon for a JAM Delay Llama.

For a variety of delays I would recommend a TC Flashback Mini with TonePrint.

There's a reason the edge, ed obrien, John Frusciante, etc use a deluxe memory man.

    They are tone junkies.

Joyo d-Seed. 4 fantastic delays in one. Two savable presets (plus you can tweak the knobs for a 3rd). Tap tempo (though I've never figured out how to use it. Has Analog, Digital, Modulation and Reverse modes. All killer. No filler. I got mine for around a hundred bucks and it was the pedal bargain of the decade for me.

I am a big fan of delay and aside from my Wah, delay would be the second pedal I'd take if I had to live with one pedal only.

I currently have a DD6. I have been happy with it, never had an issue. I am also thinking in the near future (once a good deal comes up) to get a Carbon Copy Mini.

Also, I've seen some very good reviews on TC Nova Delay and I am waiting for one used in the range 100-200$.

Sorry, but my response will be delayed.

See what I did there? 'Suggest a delay pedal.' 'Response delayed.' It's a word-play thing.

Another one for the Dunlop Echoplex.
Also have a Strymon Timeline straight into the Echoplex, which is a good combo.

Westminster effects Chick-delay pedal. It’s a two stage delay with a a mix control to blend in the sound you want. Cody , the owner , builder ! Chief bottle washer is a great guy too!

Hello Gary in Boston. From what I read, I guess it's your first delay. So, unless you're after something specific, I suggest you choose a 'all in one' delay pedal like the TC Flashback or the EHX Canyon. They both have plenty of nice sounding different types of echo/delay, among them 'reverse' of course. And they are very good quality for the money !
