What hotel/where about is it? What's your 'home base' for the trip, depending on time available and starting point your options may change :)

Well, like I said, I'm going to be in Albany. I'm not really comfortable putting what hotel I'm staying in but all day Monday and at night the other days I'm looking for some cool stuff.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I, in my head, didn't mean the exact hotel even though that's what I said o_O

Depending on what area you are in (downtown or by the airport) or how far you want to travel I was thinking of places to eat and go...Albany is called SmAlbany but it is sort of spread out, especially if you want to go to surrounding areas (Saratoga etc.).

I forgot about Paulys, it’s just a few doors down from the Low Beat, both local music venues.
Although Lark St Music is long gone, there is still a Lark St, many bars and places to eat, kinda the hipsterish neighborhood. Walk a block west to Washington Park or a couple blocks east to the Egg/Empire State Plaza

Head up to Lake George and get some pancakes and bacon at that breakfast place off the main drag. Excellent buckwheat pancakes the last time I was there. But that was years ago. So maybe there is nothing to do in Lake George until tourist season around June. Anyway, get out of Albany as soon as possible.

Next week I'm stuck in Albany from M-Thursday. I am recording for most of the days but was hoping some locals could point me to some cool things to do/see while I'm out there. I do have one morning free so any cool guitar stores appreciated as well.

Thanks!
You need to write a tune, a la Lodi, but substitute Albany

Welcome to Albany!
I saw this a little late, but Steve V hit the high points. Plus one on the Low Beat as the place for music, the Madison Pour House is great. Definitely Parkway for your gear fix. Tom and Matt are awesome!
For dining El Mariachi at 289 Hamilton St, or El Loco at the corner of Madison and Willet for Mexican, the Orchard Tavern at 68 North Manning for unique and delicious pizza. There’s a great little hole-in-the-Wall Thai place called Sukothai on Lark.
Lark Street is kinda insufferably hipstery in a weirdly provincial way to my suburbanized mind here in West Albany, but I lived in the Center Square neighborhood off Lark for years and loved it. Maybe I was hipstery myself; I’m certainly provincial. [emoji38]

My Albany info is pretty outdated -- the clubs I remember playing in are 288 Lark, Bogie's, and QE2. I'm pretty sure they're all long gone.

Wow! That’s great. I remember good times hanging around Lark Street in the early 80’s. Albany was working hard to renovate the south side. Brownstones were going for under $10k.
Wow. That was a long time ago.
Wow. I’m old.
