So I decided to simplify my pedal board today and took off 4 pedals(removed full tone OCD, EQD depths, EQD pitchbay, malekko Ekko 616). Currently I have a korg pitchblack, walrus audio Jupiter, walrus audio Voyager, wampler faux tape echo w/ tap, and the strymon flint. In the past I ran the flint with its accompanying power supply. Today I decided to just plug it all into the onespot and see what happens. It was totally silent, sounded great. There were no apparent noise issues that most people have.

So if it sounds good can I power it this way or am I unknowingly destroying the flint pedal by using a onespot? I used it at practice tonight where I know the wiring is old and bad and still had no noise issues.

Thoughts? I am sure I'll get a proper power supply at some point but if this works for know, why not?

Yes. Use the power supply it came with. Do not use the OneSpot. You will run into noise issues when using reverb settings

When I've tried to use anything other than the provided power supply with my flint it won't even turn on. My lex is powered with my voodoo labs pedal power, but the flint I use the strymon power supply.
That being said, I know that if something were to go wrong with your flint, not using the proper power supply would void your warranty.

out there somewhere.
I use the One Spot for every pedal except reverbs and delays. It still puts some kinda weird high hum in the line though. It really messes with my DL4. So that gets its own power supply. I should upgrade to a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power, but Im really resisting spending 100 bucks for a power strip just for playing around the house.

I have been using Dunlop MXR DC brick which are not isolated outputs with the Flint and Deco with no problem but when I add the Lex I get a soft but annoying high pitched line noise. I went to the voodoo labs Pedalpower 2 with isolated power and it went away. Strymons are the first pedals that I had this issue with.

Thanks for the input. No noise issues yet, but then I figure they are waiting to surface at the most Inopportune time. I am out of the warranty period so thats not an issue. I just don't want to damage the unit by powering it improperly. I love this pedal, it just bugs me that I need to use the extra wall wart. Not like it's a real big deal though.

By the way simplifying the pedalboard has rejuvenating my playing a bit. Less toe tapping and more playing.

According to the Flint manual, "Standard 9V DC center negative power input. 250 mA available current required."
Nothing exotic about that. It draws a bunch of milliamps, as many delay/reverb pedals draw about 100. The One Spot provides up to 1700 mA. You should be able to run 6.8 Flints from a One Spot, barring other issues.

The thing that will kill a pedal is incorrect polarity, as in using a center positive instead of a center negative power supply.

If you draw too much amperage very likely the pedal just won't work or light up. Too high voltage is bad, too.
As always, YMMV.

Do not use a Onespot. Simply put, a OneSpot cannot regulate the amount of power going to your Flint. Even though the claim is 1700mA or whatever it is, that is still unregulated power you're putting to your pedal.

Best thing to do is keep it on the power supply it came with or use a regulated power supply like a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+. Warranty or not, I'd say you'd want to limit the chances of frying your Flint so why risk it with a OneSpot?

Adel... That makes sense, that's why I was asking. I'll go back to the provided power supply. I don't want to hurt the pedal.

With it in mind should I worry about the wampler faux tape as well? it's a digital pedal too.

Time to start looking at a better power supply regardless

The one spot is rated for 1700mA. As long as the total draw from all pedals is less than that, you should be fine. It is unregulated power, but the advantages of regulated power are in minimizing ground loops and noise in general. These are mostly concerns with high gain or vintage (poorly spec'd) pedals. If your rig isn't noisy, you probably won't benefit much from upgrading to regulated power.
