How would this be useful for an at home hack who doesn't record. You know, 95% of the people who play guitar.

    groan...

just when I thought it was in remission

however, 400 bones for a box to take to the club is a wee bit steepy

    "Impulse of a Vox® AC30/6 open back 2×12″ combo with 2001 Celestion® T0530 Blue AlNiCo speakers."

    Sounds interesting.

    Demos sound good.

My problem with modeling is always the intense circle the drain suck towards the generic. I knew it was going to be a vox, and deluxe reverb and a marshall before they announced it, because it always is. I mean, yes, great amps, many iconic sounds etc etc, but man oh man can there not be some other options? The deluxe reverb model adds a tone control, but it seems like it models a fender blackface stack, where you need to dime the mid and zero the bass and treble to get a flat frequency response

My own "tone quest" puts me into the charlie christian/ampeg jazzbo realm, and nobody models that but more important the amp models don't let you get even close, because the knob twiddling is designed to get you to some version of Eric Clapton or Angus young.

My fault for liking relativey unpopular music, i suppose, but I have to think it's not good for the future of guitar playing if all roads lead to 1967

Save your money, I am sure it is a great amp sim but I would bet that 95 out of a 100 people could not tell the difference between this unit and one of each of the following.

    Joyo American Sound - Deluxe
    Joyo AC Tone - AC
Joyo British Sound - Marshall Plexi

You can get all three of these for less than $100 total...

Well, lots of people set up their rigs as pedal platforms for amps in a box. This gives you three of the most usual suspects in one, can be used standalone into a pa and has some cab and room simulation stuff.

So, yeah, could be useful in a home setting if you’re looking for those amp sounds in a pedal.

I’m not really a pedal guy, so probably not for me, but I can see how it might be just the ticket for some folks.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

How good is this thing? If it's convincing, I'm buying it immediately! Those 3 amps are all I need!

I'm running a 68 custom Princeton reverb, and it's holding it'its own - great little amp! But kinda limiting. And I'm micing through the PA anyways.

Just waiting for the technology to "get there"

Is it there? I want tone, not bs. And I need it to respond well to my pedal board... Fuzz, distortion, wah, compression, phase, etc

Oh gosh, I am interested, despite myself. Good points above, but the high-end modeling world is getting some very interesting products. Love the simplicity of the interface on this especially. Does it sound any better than my Yamaha THR10 which has all of these "models" already, costs half as much, has speakers, effects, and a line in? Who knows!

I'll take the shell pink Strat in the video, but not interested in the pedal.

Wouldn't this have a lot more options than a Tone Master? I guess there's always something to complain about.

Before any of the tube snobs buy one by accident, it's a modeling amp without a power section or a speaker. It just looks like a pedal.

    yep.

I love strymon and I’m sure this box is great but - my ears just don’t work that well. Those 3 Joyo boxes will do just fine.

Here, I'll do it for them:

    1. It should only cost $200. You can get a vintage tube screamer for $400! (old SS is better than new SS!)
    2. Three models is too many!
    3. That's a terrible color. Too dark.
    4. Three models is not enough! This is garbage without at least 17 models.
    5. The Youtube video through my computer speakers does NOT sound exactly like the original '64 Deluxe sitting right next to me. Therefore modeling is crap.
    6. Modeling the sound of an early 1960s amplification device is far beyond the reach of the cleverest engineers in the world, Even in a world of self driving cars and home speakers that understand your speech and can go shopping for you.

You can get an HX stomp for 200 more new or 100 more used which has MANY more amps, a bunch of effects, a USB out that can work as an audio interface, 3 buttons instead of 2, and crazy routing and control options. IMO it needs to be 300-half the price of the HX stomp-to even be worth considering.
