So, not at all fussy about string brand(s) personally prefer Rotos as the foil lined pack gives them a longer shelf life until opened. Ernie Ball are my 2nd go to brand. I do use D'Addario for my Ibanez AS/jazzy stuff
I have used/tried Fender strings and they're fine for the price ... but if they've been on the shelf a while ... you can tell imo.
btw, above based on 50+ years of string buying/playing - back to when Rotos were about the only brand in town, so perhaps brand loyalty plays in here too.

I was never a string snob and mostly used Musician's Friend bulk strings when I was playing with a band 30 years ago.

Today I kinda like round core nickel strings although asking me is like asking a wino for a suggestion on what cheap wine to buy.

For some reason I like D'Addario strings too.

I used to use both of those kinds and they were fine. I’ve been using GHS Boomers 10-46 for about 15 years, but I can make any of the main string makers work for me.
I was a happy Boomer 10's man for years. But, a couple years back went to 9.5's on my Fender-scale instruments. GHS doesn't offer 9.5, so I went back to the stringmaker of my youth: Ernie Ball Primo Slinky (9.5 - 44). Still Boomer 10's on my Gibson-scale guitars, though.

I find D'Addario are about the best, and I can believe it based on their string R&D commitment, and adding new products. I use strings on many different instruments, not just guitars, and can't replace them all, so I pay attention to performance and life. Ive always assumed adjacent producers like Fender, Martin, etc. Just buy and label strings from actual string makers. Not a bad thing, but a middle man scenario. I rotate in GHS, Earnie Ball. There are couple big names that I avoid, because they seem to be of lower quality in pitch trueness, and either age or packaging, not lasting like I think they should. Also, I bought over 1000 individual strings from a music store that closed, and its telling which brands last, and which ones don't.

I use EXL110 sets on all my electric guitars. Only two of them get gigged all the time, so they get new strings every gig. Strings are DONE after I play one gig with them. Just demolished.

I buy the EXL110’s in 25 set bulk packs. That currently works out to $5.04/set. I typically go through 3-4 bulk packs per year. That’s just electric strings. No acoustic or bass figured in. I spend a lot of money on strings. The bulk pack is the best way to go.

I don’t care for fender strings, but you might like em. Buy one set and give em a try.

EXL 140s (10-52) on my AV 52 forever and really like those D'Adds. Recently purchased an American Performer that shipped with light Fender strings and they felt too thin, but likely was the gauge. Put some EXL 110s on and that sounds much better, but ordered some XS 11-49 today and that may be my ticket.

Well, just picked up a couple of sets of Fender. One set installed on the Door, I'll see how they go. Local shop still didn't have d'Addario in stock.

I think the Fender 250R multipack might be one of the best bangs for the buck out there. And I like that they don't muck about with a lot of packaging and paper sleeves and whatever.
They're a mainstay on my Tele.

I haven't noticed a whole lot of difference to other regular 10ers like Ernies, D'Addarios and what have you. I'm not Eric Johnson though, and don't sweat battery acid.

I recently bought a Taylor acoustic which they changed a while ago to D'Addario as standard. I didn't get on with 13 gauge which are extremely tight, and top E and B had a strange compressive tone. I dropped to 12s and MUCH better, although I might try 11s. Telecaster has Ernie Ball 10s, 9s are too loose for me.

I've been using GHS Boomers 10-46 on all my electrics for decades. I see these around $6 ( 4.5 pounds?) in the US What might these cost in the UK?

Wow, strings are expensive there! £6 for the lower priced Fender set is $8.

I usually buy a 25 pack of D'Addario 9.5-44 for about $5 (£3.7) per set (on Amazon).

I found PRS 9.5-44 sets at Sweetwater for $4.50 (£3.3) per set, whether purchased in a 1, 3, 5 or 10 pack. I'm tempted to buy at least a 3 pack--BUT the 0.016 G string is WOUND. Anyone have experience with these strings?

I got 10 packs of D'Addario XL 10's and 4 packs of Fender Bullets 11's for £34 off eBay.
Less than £2.50 each.
You need to shop around.
