I’d like some information on my Stratosphere Twin. I’m wanting to do a restoration of it. I’d like to know the original colors on them. Mine has obviously been repainted and had all the original paint stripped in the process. Deke Dickerson told me this was an early one and I know the guitar came from California, via Springfield, MO. From what I can tell almost everything is original other than the repaint. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can't help with the question I'm afraid, but it's a very cool looking thing!

    Cool!
Looks like the six string neck got played a bunch.
Check out Jimmy Bryant’s Stratosphere Boogie on YouTube.

I’m well aware of Jimmy Bryant and the tune. His self harmony on the twelve string is AMAZING!

Have you considered just changing your name to Bill Prince? That thing is amazing looking in its current state.

Exactly. Just clean it up, take care of the frets and condition the fretboards, set up and intonate. Don’t touch the paint or any of the endearing cheesiness.

The problem with that is... Billy painted over the fretboard dots. So you can’t see where you’re at!

I found a few pictures online because I have never seen one of those before yours. I had to look into them a bit more. Maybe yours was natural at one point. The necks and stripes on the neck match up. There's also a sunburst version.

I am with the other votes of cleaning it up and getting it to playing condition. That guitar has lived a life before you got it. Preserve it!

Cool guitar and thanks for sharing.

    Yep.
Get it up to playing condition.
    Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing.
It is one of one in the universe.
    Why remove it's identity.
Heck, just name it Bill and rock on.

Billy was a guy who used to play in a little bar in Pahrump, NV. He gave this to me when I was 13 years old. I’m 28 now! Billy was a super great guy! He now lives in Texas. Although, someone told me he got his hand amputated a couple years ago.
