I didn't renew mine and I still have my banner.
I wanted a vendor thingy months ago, I had questions, never heard from the powers that be after several attempts.

No, at least PG&E warned their customers before they pulled the plug.

    Waxing pedantic here, apologies ...

Not all web hosting companies are created equal, nor do they charge the same amount, nor do they offer the same storage and bandwidth options ... and websites that are run as a business, tend to choose lower-cost web hosts ... it's a balancing act. ST isn't doing a stellar job of balancing right now, hopefully, they'll get it together. I agree that ST seems pretty prone to hosting issues for the number of members it has.

Agreed, and that’s a good explanation of those issues. But...

Most of the current issues that show up as Error 500, or a totally comatose server, are rooted in configuration problems that S-T admins (not mods) own. I don’t know what they’re tinkering with, but they’re doing it rong.

They're not tinkering, they're still oblivious and contemplating their navels. Maybe it will get fixed before Christmas this time...

    or not...

i don't know a thing about servers, but i know a thing or two about service... the owner clearly couldn't care less about good public relations with their customers and users.

The last time we were all over here I impetuously ordered a new American Professional (& I do not like that name, so all the previous decades of Strats & Teles were "amateurs"?) Telecaster from Sweetwater, a snafu occurred and I cancelled the order. They were nice about it... But I still want another Tele... I don't NEED one... Listen, it's happening already!
