Good morning all. If I were to fit a stratocaster neck pick up in my telecaster, would it sound thin or off in the middle position as it's not rwrp like that tele neck pick up.
Many thanks

All of Leo's Teles were not configured RWRP, that came years later in the 70s after CBS took the Fender brand. The Strat's leads can safely be swapped if phasing becomes an issue with the bridge pickup. An uncovered Strat pickup will at worst case shoehorn right into both a Tele body cavity and pickguard routs. Knowing the resulting tone/output 'tween both pickups will happen after you've made the install. What might matter most is the output of both pickups, and typically that can be adjusted via pickup distance to the strings. Carry on & cheers.

I was told on the SD forums that you would need to get a RWRP Strat pickup to get hum canceling with a Tele bridge.

I might be the only person out there who thinks the RWRP wind destroys the high-end in the quack position. If possible, I always request my Strat and Tele pickups without the reverse wind. A Strat neck with a Tele bridge sounds absolutely delicious IMHO.

It will make your guitar sound killer. The highway one version from the 90’s came FAT with a humbucker or with a strat neck pickup. Both models sound killer.

A cool trick is to leave the plastic cover off and wrap the coil wire with tape to protect it. It will squeeze through a typical Tele neck pickup slot, but you have to be gentle when doing so because jamming it in can damage the coil.

Lots of players have done it.

All my Teles get a strat pickup in the neck position sooner or later. Aftermarket scratch guards are readily available cut for a Strat pickup.

Use a compass to check magnetic polarity of both pickups. Then replace neck pickup with similar pickup.
