Strange Pedal Comparison

I have a Dover Drive and love it, but I'm fascinated by the Waza version of the Boss HM-2.
To those with experience of both pedals, is there any/much overlap in the sounds that these two pedals can do?

I had an original MIJ HM-2. It's a very heavy sounding pedal, otherwise known as the 'Swedish Death Metal pedal'. If you aren't playing Metal, it can be effective for powerful solos. I can't think of much of a use beyond that. It wasn't good for Hard Rock or even 'Grunge'. Too heavy sounding.
