I have a Fender Japan "Dr K" Telecaster which has a Jerry Donahue in the bridge and Lace Sensor Golds in the middle and neck position.

The LS pups sound good but I noticed something strange. I can't get 5th fret harmonics at all when in the neck position and only low volume harmonics in the middle.

Just wondering if this some strange trait of Lace Sensor pickups?

I just tried my Lace Sensor equipped Ibanez Strat and my Fender equipped Tele (not noiseless).

Both guitars lost 5th fret harmonics when switched to the neck PU. There was no noticeable difference in how they amplify harmonics.

Thanks for the reply. So you're confirming no 5th fret harmonics in either guitar equipped with Lace Sensor pups in the neck position?

Strangest thing, I thought there was something wrong with my pickups, but good to know if this is normal.

One guitar had LS, the other had traditional PUs, neither had 5th fret harmonics when the neck PU was selected.

This doesn't have anything to do with the pickup. The neck pickup on a Tele is right where the harmonic node is.

This one. The neck pickup is on a noted nodal dead spot.

Lack of the harmonic on the neck spot is a huge negative for some people but not often spoken of here.

Trying harmonics with the neck pickup?!?! That's like asking the prom queen for a dance....dangerous! It could ruin your life!

    But...I get it.. YOLO!

Yeah - I only play harmonics on the bridge pickup, mostly. Most harmonics are stronger in this position
