I'd like to thank everyone who helped me with the old Vintage Guitar issue that features my new acquisition. I was in the right place at the right time and had the opportunity to snag it. George Lynch listed this as one of his "top 4" guitars and I have to say it really is an amazing instrument for tone and playability. George refinished it and had Seymour D. rewind the pickups slightly hotter.Pickguard has shrunk hence the cracks. It's certainly not all original, but it has a cool history. George also included personal stuff in the case which was cool.

Wow! Now that's VERY cool. Lucky you! I love the late 60s ones anyway but that's got extra provenance and such an unusual color - stunning! Great catch, hope you enjoy many happy years of playing it!

Must have the backstory! How did you buy a guitar from George Lynch??? And I must be too closed-minded because there's just about nobody I would have thought LESS likely to play a Tele than George Lynch.

Yeah, Strat God, give us some details here. The thread title says "Story of my George Lynch '67 Tele" so let's have the story!

Looks great. I'm guessing that's a Lake Placid Blue with the typical yellowing of the clear coat, rendering it green.

It's actually Sherwood Green (per George). He asked Seymour himself to rewind the pickups and loved the way they came out.

Goerge has been collecting vintage Gibbys and Fenders for years although he's known for the skull & bones and Kamakaze 80's guitars from the Dokken era. He has been buying and selling lots of gear -that's how I wound up with this one -and it really is a killer player - jumbo frets on a thinner neck (not a baseball bat), hotter pickups, nylon nut and the tuners are tight and stay in tune.
I look forward to gigging with it in January.

found this video today and thought of this thread. not the cleanest playing i've ever heard from him, but i love listening to him play! although it's always weird when he's not playing a guitar with tiger stripes on it...
