Iggy Pop announces death of Stooges band mate Scott Asheton

Posted on March 16, 2014 by Willow Colios

Sad news has reached us this evening that Stooges drummer and founder member, Scott Asheton has died. He was 64 years old.
The following message was posted on Iggy Pop’s official Facebook page:
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM IGGY:
My dear friend Scott Asheton passed away last night.
Scott was a great artist, I have never heard anyone play the drums with more meaning than Scott Asheton. He was like my brother. He and Ron have left a huge legacy to the world. The Asheton’s have always been and continue to be a second family to me.
My thoughts are with his sister Kathy, his wife Liz and his daughter Leanna, who was the light of his life.

The Asheton Bros are reunited.

Both way too early.

Scott also drummed for the should-be legendary Sonic's Rendezvous w/ Fred Sonic Smith of the MC5 on guitar and the great Scott Morgan on vocals.

This song IS Detroit :
