First time post but long time lurker. Was so stoked on this great come up that I just had to make an account to share.

Got this surf green AVRI 62 Custom Tele complete with all the case candy/hang tags and a Relic Blues JR tweed together for an incredible price. Compliments my American special well!

Also.. considering wiring to the “modern” circuitry with the included capacitor. Any thoughts/tips/experiences with doing this??

Stock wiring comes with the "vintage dark circuit" which is as follows

Neck Position : Neck pick up with tone all the way down and tone knob disabled
Middle Position : Neck pick up with tone knob engaged
Bridge Position : Bridge pick up with tone knob engaged

Missing that neck and bridge together!

I too have a surf green AVRI 62 Custom. Best Tele I've played. Do the mod - you can get close by keeping the selector in between the front and middle - but it's not stable. The combo sound of these pickups is so sweet.

My favorite production line Fender, and a GREAT color. Congrats!

Make the wiring change, it suits those pickups. Very balanced set. Some folks will tell you to take it a step further and install a four-way switch.

I had one in Ocean Turquoise that someone offered me a shade under $2k for soon after they discontinued the line. I sold it and still regret it.

I managed to scoop this up w/ the amp for 1500 ;)

The 3 guitars in my profile pic were found on CL here in Hawaii for unreal deals.

The AVRI ‘62 Custom Telecaster pickups are some of the best that Fender has produced. Versatile, smooth but can twang, never shrill. They have no bad habits.

Custom colors with double binding look killer. And the Blues Junior is a very cool amp too. So : enjoy!

Beautiful I have the surf green 62 too and it is drop dead gorgeous even more so than in pics. It's a work of art .congratulations. Also just to say the 62 AVRI pickups don't get massive attention but they are my favourite 60s set albeit I slightly prefer the 64 neck pickup. I spend 90 pc of time on bridge and the 62 is juicy and smooth and wonderful.

That is my favorite colour on the 62, and you got yourself one of the best-looking telecasters ever PERIOD. That dark chocolate fretboard is to die for. I also hear that the pickups are among the best. I would have bought one long ago but my big mitts don’t get along well with thin necks. But I am jealous, and very happy for you. Throw in a classic tube amp, and you have a WINNING combo there. Congrats!!

PS: do the mod. Easy peasy, and basically the “bassy” tone is unusable so you lose nothing.

I AGREE!!! And thank you so much! I can't believe how epic of a deal this was. I was able to talk him down into getting the guitar and amp for less than his original asking price for just the guitar!!!

Forgot to answer your point about modern wiring. I think it is a no brainer if you want to use it as standard and the neck pickup is very nice. Mine is a 2007 and it came used to me with modern wiring. There are how to guides on the internet RE making the change and you just need a deft touch with a soldering iron to sort it.

...especially nice looking rosewood board too. Nice dark chocolate... lovely. I could look at that all do but apparently I have other useful more important things to do.
