Wait, the factory doesn’t know? Or they didn’t leak their production release plans to some guy in an email?
I think it’s at least worth exploring that a factory in the music equipment business who sells through licensed channels would affirm their dealer commitments before telling some individual.

I keep checking the internet. Some European dealers are advertising the amps, but they all say unavailable.

I emailed customer services at Vox UK yesterday to enquire as to when we can see the new handwired range in the shops.

The short story-
They don't know.

And when the new one's are released I bet they'll sound identical to all the previous Vox handwired reissues

Yeah, but it's like Led Zeppelin remasters. Every half a decade they re-release all the same old tunes rejigged and you feel compelled to buy the album..

At least this time there's a smaller lighter 10 watter coming. I would consider that depending on it's final spec. If there's any silicon other than diode rectifier it's a no from me.

The factory hasn't been in the UK for decades. They don't know, because they haven't received the container from Asia, yet.

I believe tube amps which use "PWM switching power supply" could keep guitarists still using tubes amps!
So far I know only Blackstar St'James.

It should be possible to make the "switching supply" HV sag like tube rectifier cause.

Switching supply make amp much lighter and practically very tolerant to mains voltage changes and EM noise as well. Cheaper too which should drop price when more of them are available. St'James is specified for 100V to 260V mains.

I don't have a problem with a power supply - even a switching supply. As you say sag resistors in place of a tube rectifier would be fine. I'm also OK with LDR switching to lift the eqs or switch channels.

But if they put chip driven trem or reverb or gain stages like the 10C1/30S1 I wouldn't.

I'd prefer no reverb or trem and I could live without a Normal channel.

Do you buy all the Led Zepp remasters - 1 was enough for me.

A smaller lighter AC10 coming ?? - don't believe it.
Vox don't do light weight tube amps but .......if it turns out to weigh 26 pounds instead of 27 they'll be correct - so maybe.

One way of doing that would be to replace the Greenback speaker they put in the most recent AC10 handwired reissue with an el cheapo rubbish Chinese ceramic speaker. Same as they've done with the non handwired reissues.

Again it won't have any chime/jangle like all real AC amps have but..... the punters never knew or cared before.
And obviously Vox will have to increase their price .... again😇

The quoted specs as much as you can believe them shows the AC15HW1 being same size but 5lb less weight than the older HW at 45ish lb (so still Horrid Deluxe dimensions) but the AC10 is shown in a smaller 12" cabinet that - along with the control panel/chassis may be shared with the AC4HW - at less than 40lb. Partly that's because the chassis is shorter (no Normal channel).

Allegedly in the blurb they discovered the old 60s ones weren't made of 19mm ply like a Marshall quad box. So the AC30/15 are marginallly smaller and lighter with Greenback or Blue respectively. The stock speaker listed for the AC10 is the Greenback

Yeah…a good thing for me. It gave me time to get over the GAS.
