I used one in a band as a solo boost. I had some positive comments on my tone.

But then, I've read the King in Yellow, so I'm probably insane.

I’ve had two Carcosa’s on my board for a long time now. One for high gain “fuzzstortion” (Demhe setting, boosted with a Boss SD-1), the other for medium/low gain overdrive.

I’m seriously considering adding a third Carcosa for a splatty, Velcro sound.

It’s such a versatile pedal. So many sweet spots.

What makes the Carcosa so addictive to me, aside from its versatility, is the high end. It is bright and cutting in such a pleasing way. In the bedroom it can sound a little brash, but with the band it just sits in the mix so perfectly. Boosted with the SD-1 it sounds friggin huge. Add some delay and you get a killer Dark Side of the Moon lead tone. I absolutely love this pedal.

I haven't played the Carcosa, but I've been pretty smitten with my Demhe for a while now.
It's pretty similar, but thicker and fatter sounding

I’m interested in the Demhe, but not sure if it’s different enough from the Carcosa to warrant buying.

I’ve owned the Black Spiral and enjoyed it, but preferred the Carcosa, believe it or not.

Well, I haven't tried both pedals so I can't speak from personal experience, but I have talked to Tom Cram, who made both pedals and he says they are a bit different. How much of a difference is enough for you I can't say, but for $150 it might be worth a try. I love mine and I don't see it going anywhere any time soon.

Same! I just got the Black Spiral II and the Carcosa is still KING!

Weird, so you’ve never played a Carcosa? Do yourself a favor and buy one, they’re cheap enough to buy a few!

I couldn't get along with mine but think it may have been my AC15 not playing nicely with it?
Anyway, I've sold both the carcosa and the ac15, TC Honeypot currently on the board awaiting my next amp (in a bit of a hiatus these days)

No need to, I'm totally content with the Demhe

I have a Corcosa and like it, but something about the responsiveness of it is holding me back from giving it a permanent spot on my board.

You guys that have had one for a while - how is it situated in your chain? How many pedals before it, how many buffers before it or after it? What position in the chain gives you it's best? Is it affected by things like buffers or is it just me?

I typically first run into a nice tuner then a 535Q wah before I hit the Carcosa.

I am not expert, I have read certain fuzz pedals do not respond well after wahs. Maybe see if you like the sound more without it hitting the wah peddle first.

I’ve never had any issue with the Carcosa not getting along with other pedals, but I don’t use a wah.

As far as the responsiveness, what are you not liking? How are you using the Carcosa, and what are you trying to achieve?

I’m using it is as a distortion into a fairly clean amp, for the most part. I keep the ‘after’ control pretty low, typically, and boost it with a TS or SD-1. It doesn’t clean up like a Fuzz Face, but I can go from a saturated lead sound to a chunky rhythm sound with the guitar volume.

Since I have the Spiral version, I brought my Carcosa upstairs to use with my Pathfinder 15. Works really nice with the gain low. Never bothered to try that, but it does work. In the territory that I get with OD250 or Special Cranker. Good fuzz with vol rolled off dirty sound.

It will go from crystal clear to mild dirty. Just not the ragged fuzz that it can also do.

I was watching the release video of the JHS limited edition treble booster. It sounded great. Sold out fast at $249. Then I thought, my Carcosa can do that same sound. The high-cut clockwise can get you into Rangemaster territory.
