Steve Winwood is amazing. I saw him with Steely Dan, and I’d love to see him again. Thanks for posting. The man still has pipes, after all these years

I can't find any reference as to when that was recorded. it must have been some time ago. He looks pretty young.

I still dream sometimes of what it would have been like to see
him and Hendrix doing an album.

That guy looks like an older version of that guy from the band Traffic.

    He's so good.

About ten years ago I think.

It's a great song... and harder to sing than many think. It's easy to start on the wrong note right off..... but a note that works with the chords............ Once you get that right, it becomes easier... Or maybe it's just me!

I have actually done it ( either acoustic duo or electric band) where I have just sung the lower harmony vocal alone ( no one singing the melody) that '70's era EC would sing with a female singer in his live bands.

But it sounds kind of weird like that- still fun to play and jam on..

I think that is what I was referring to regarding "If you start on the wrong note". That song is easy to get on the wrong part! Then you go back and listen to Winwood and you go "WTF? I'm not singing it right!"

I like the jazzier/faster live Blind Faith @ Hyde Park version too.

Funny how in this show, Clapton is trying to be background, almost hiding/shy- but he still lets loose with some really tasty stuff with theTeleStrat! 7169c1925f1683d308298dab603bdb53.jpg

Steve Winwood is a force of nature whether he's on keys, acoustic, or electric guitar, not to mention his singing and writing. I've been a fan of this song since it came out a half century ago. Thanks for posting this version!

About the guitar, Martin makes an EC 00028 model that looks very much like the one Steve Winwood is using in the video. In search of a guitar like this, I ended up buying a poor man's version around 10 years ago. It's this Blueridge BR183 Historic model. Like the Martin, it also has all solid woods (Sitka spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard) and hand carved scalloped bracing. I'm glad I bought it when it could be had online for $650.00 at Maury's Music. Musician's Friend and others now have these for around $1,350.00. In any event, I've loved this great sounding and playing guitar, lightweight and surprisingly loud for its 000 size. It's now my only acoustic guitar.

Geeze, I'd be scared to touch a guitar that nice. I can barely look at it without feeling anxiety.

I have the cheaper ( well by comparison) BR-163, which has more a style-28 cosmetics and all solid Sitka/Pau Ferro body ( also fingerboard and bridge)

I am playing this at home only ( or all acoustic jams), as it has no pickup (yet), a Martin D gets the gigs. But the Blueridge is crystal-clear powerful and a very good player.

Sadly, my model is now $1200, and Blueridge guitars ( I'm still a fan as friends own them too, all very good),
are NOT the value they were- prices went way up 2-3 years ago.

    My hands down favorite.

Steve's voice is still magnificent after all these years.. He looks pretty pleased with their performance there..
