Makes a person like me ask.I wonder how many of those guitars were paid for by him and how many were gifted to him by guitar companies. And is this money that is made going to charities or to himself.Maybe I missed something in the article, maybe it did say that money was being raised for good causes .

I have no problem if the majority of funds go to Steve. This most likely is his retirement fund. (shrugs)

You're probably right - his 401K, so to speak.

A person like has his work cut out for him fretting over his own stewardship of his own time, talent, and treasure, and fretting over his own philanthropic goals, without concerning himself over Mr. Miller's stewardship and philanthropy, or that of anyone else.

Everything including the house priced at about double the market.
Steve trying to cash out, or just satisfying someone that "I tried to sell all that stuff"?

It's his stuff and, IMO, it doesn't matter if he bought the the things or whether he got them as gifts, he gets to decide what to do with the money.

Yeah, the prices aren't for used gear. They're for gear that Steve sneezed on, or something.

On the other hand, one of the pieces I remember in that group, the flame was so much by far better than anything I'd ever seen, anywhere. Actually a lot of them are quite flamey. Stuff that never hits the normal people racks.

It's his stuff, he can sell or not, or keep the money or not. I don't care. But his name on it doesn't do a thing for me. Sweet gear, is all.

This is the description for the CS Les paul special.

"was one - a TV Yellow Doublecut Special, made by the Gibson Custom Shop, and lovingly played by Steve Miller for its throaty and warm tone. The guitar includes the original case along with Gibson certificate of authenticity."

Except all the photos show it to be a single cut. I'm not sure if I'm questioning the authenticity or not, but inaccurate descriptions aren't helping those high figures. Besides, does a previously owned SM guitar really matter?

Through unknowing luck and happenstance, I own an American strat that was owned and played by Don Felder during the Hell Freezes Over tour. While it ain't for sale (first guitar sentimental reasons), there isn't any magic about it. In fact, I never play it and not because of its provenance, but because I'm not a strat guy.

A used strat with stickers on it for that much? Nope.

I like to think if the player is selling the guitar it's most likely not a keeper for the next guy who buys it either.

Looks like he just bought too much on impulse the last several years also as a lot of this is fairly new still.

Sure seems like he is just buying used guitars, strumming them a few times and then trying to sell them for $5000 because they are "Steve Miller" guitars. Kind of sad really.
