I'm laid up this weekend with an injury so I'm thinking up different ways to annoy this forum. Here's the latest.

Which fight scene music do you prefer? 60's Star Trek or Next Gen Star Trek? I personally love the 60's Star Trek for its music. None of the other Star Treks can hold a candle to the Star Trek music composers of the 60's, in my opinion.

    Classic fight music.

Fight scene music doesn't start warming up until around 2:08.

Yeah, you can't beat the original when it comes to music and sound effects. I guess if I had a fan request to Star Trek creators, it would be to allow the music to insert itself more into the drama, let the music boldly go to the audience (I don't mean that ironically either), instead of hiding like a tribble in the background.

You can thank composer Gerald Fried for the score music used in Amok Time. The fight scene music was reused in other episodes.

I always thought Voyager had the best title music. Not as iconic as TOS or TNG, but just as a piece of music it's my favorite.

Another great composer from around that time, Bernard Hermann.

I keep the Amok Time fight song on my phone. Whenever I'm around friends or coworkers and they begin to argue with each other...I play it.
It's usually pretty damn funny....and sometimes I just get looks.

I didn't know there was any fighting in Next Generation. I thought they solved everything with their arrogant, holier-than-thou diplomatic skills.

It's also been used to great comic effect in numerous other productions. I saw a really good movie called Pumpkin, about a mentally disabled teenager who falls in love with a girl, so there's this scene where he fights this other boy int he schoolyard, and the scene was accompanied by that music.

Wikipedia tells us the cue in question is called The Ritual/Ancient Battle/2nd Kroykah, "now known as "the Star Trek fight music".

I think both versions have their patriarchs, but they still have their sci-fi charms. Voyager breaks the mold a bit. It's the modern version I like the most.

I use it for comic effect. It's a great jingle for violent action :)

Strangle enough I was at a performance of my son's Orchestra last night where the performed Holt's Jupiter suite from The Planets.

It reminded me of the star trek theme and I thought it surely must be an inspiration.
