People in Canada probably care more about the Ducks winning the Stanley Cup than people in Southern California. Last week, the L.A. Times mentioned which sports articles got the most hits on their web site. Laker news was tops by a large margin, followed by stories about the Dodgers and the Angels. After that, came the article about the Duck's Stanley Cup victories. Personally, I wasn't even aware the Ducks were in the finals until they won the first game.

The only time L.A. has cared about hockey was when Gretzy was playing for the Kings.

Oh yeah, Ottawa winning the cup is a Leafs fan's worst nightmare!

To a degree that's true, looking at the place as a whole, and the percentage of hockey fans. On the other hand, that small percentage still equates to enough interest to support not one but two teams in LA/Orange County versus 6 in all of Canada.

Well, there are more people in the state of California than in all of Canada.

If I have to drink our beer, it will be Moosehead, Sleemans, or a microbrewery. Most of the industrial beers here are not worth bothering with, to my taste. Especially Kokanee, or Molson Canadian...Yeccchhhh. From Europe, I would pick Pilsen Urquell-the original pilsener, or Stella Artois. I like Guiness, but find it weird to drink a cold, flat beer with a head.

p.s. we're not really cousins by way of Britain-my family came from France to the future "Canada" in the 1640's.

Enjoy bragging rights on the cup for the next year. :D

Roadman, you are a good man! this has been a truly fun thread.... thanks for starting it! Maybe we can ressurect it around the grey cup?:D

Skully, you are frequently coherent and occasionally correct...but....
The Kings were very, very popular in the Rogie Vachon era... Butch Goring and the boys were awesome to watch... this was also the Jerry West era in basketball!

I don't think my family is from British ancestory either... either way, someone in Europe colonized both of us - we're cousins enough in my book! You don't want to be related?

I honestly hate Disney and any team/field owned by:
    1. Gene Autry
    2. Disney Co.
    3. Edison

I really was rooting for the Sens... but I was born and raised in Anaheim - I honestly could care less who wins since each player cares little about the team and more about paychecks/awards.

    Go Dodgers, boo Angels :)

Not with me. ;) Rogie Vachon? Is that pronounced Bobby Orr?

Of course, I didn't live in L.A. at the time. I lived in Northern California, where we had the Seals. Few people cared.

the most evil of all listed are the Dodgers...

Rogie and Bobby Orr were contemporaries but like Mickey Mantle, Orr was hurt all the time by the time the great goalkeeper rose to greatness... this was more during the era with the Bruins bumpersticker which read "Jesus Saves But Espo Scores on the Rebound"

    that is wit!

forget the grey cup, we all know the B.C.Lions are dynasty bound....lets go with the Super bowl...maybe we can get some more guys in on a bet and give Paul some financial support which was the whole reason I started this thread.
It is no easy job running this forum that we all love and it ain't cheap...we should give Mr. Green a trophy . :D ;)

    Way to go Anaheim !!!!!

I couldn't watch as my son had a lacrosse game.

But I saw the interviews and ceramonies in a hospital emergency room while we were waiting for a CT Scan for my son after he suffered a head injury during his game.

Luckily his injury wasn't too bad.

    Gene Autry is dead.
Disney has sold both the Ducks and the Angels. Both teams have now won championships since their new owners took over.
Edison once rented naming rights to Angel Stadium, for a relatively brief period. They never owned the field.

I'm sure none of that will mitigate you hatred, and it's not intended too. Just the facts.

Followed closely by the last goalie not to wear any mask: Gump Worsley

Asked about why he chose to go without he told reporters; "My face is my mask."

LOL, Ottawa didn't choke, Anaheim just flat out kicked their poor whiney arses. And uhhh...in case you haven't heard, "Mighty" got axed from the name before the season started.

I was in the building to see my team the Toronto Maple Leafs win
    "The Cup" in 1967.

Unfortunatlely it is the last time they have won it.

It was also the last year of the "Original Six " teams before expansion.

Nashville Predators have been sold recently and the buzz is that they are to be moved the southern Ontario.

It will be interesting to see where.
