Haven't wiring in years, but revisiting I'm seeing a couple of different diagrams showing the Cap going from Tone pot tab middle to Vol pot tab thru to ground at that pot...then both PU Black to back of vol pot, so all standard stuff...but, some of the diagrams of this type link the 2 pots casing together with a separate wire and some don't? I've never linked them from memory, I've left that wire out? although I have on a strat.

Thanks

I always do, it's just an insurance policy that costs nothing. If you're building on a metal control plate you can skip this step if you're confident that your pot mounting nuts are going to stay tight.

Thanks, I just realized that, they are linked by the control plate of course, so I my memory is correct of leaving that out, thanks so much for the reply. Going to try to get into playing again, nice to surf this board again.

I recently replace my control plate with a clear plastic one (to match my pickguard) and had asked the same question as I've seen diagrams with and without the jumper ground wire. But with my clear plate...you can now easily see it! ha!

Since I do a variety of control plate materials as well as body thru pot mounting I do a pot ground jumper on metal plates out of habit. That and if I get out of habit I'll surely forget it one day when it is needed.
