If only i could jump in time with the music, i d do it. But i can t even play right standing stiff so that s a no no.

On a more serious note, i like dexter, he sings and plays and do those little spazz moves.

Link wray had some presence too.

    I gotta agree.
    Buchanan too, for that matter.
    I’ve experience both.
I was 10 feet from DG, his Barden modded 53 Tele and dimed BF Vibrolux, in a 1000 sq ft room.
He played brilliantly, with a tone that hurt my teeth and eyeballs.
I saw RB at the Armadillo, using virtually the same rig, though RB’s Nancy still had it’s original pickups.
Harsh, shrill, loud and completely impossible to ignore.
Both men would occasionally get a little pitchy with their extreme bending.
DG was more fun to watch though.
He did all kinds of gymnastics, but looked like he just rolled out of bed.

I have always found transmitting pure joy and love of playing the instrument translates the greatest form of showmanship.

Regardless if one is playing an upbeat number,

    or a slower ballad.

Rich Good of the Psychedelic Furs. Saw them 3 weeks ago. His playing is so relaxed, so cool & he smiled thru' the whole gig.
He closes his eyes when he plays a solo. I only close my eyes when I play a bum note.

Here he is playing Pretty in Pink with his (pretty in) Pink Jazzmaster.

If you haven't seen a performer live, you can't judge their stage presence ... How cool they look on video or film is a different matter ...

My excuse was gonna be that I sing and play at the same time, and then you posted that.

My only other excuse is that I'm focusing so hard on NOT SCREWING UP....

I imagine I'm dodging rotten fruit, eggs, full beer cans etc... I started doing it out of necessity and it stuck with me like a tic.

Joey Harris has always been one of my favorites... when he was a sideman, he always smiled and killed and just knows how to move...

I strike a Billy Zoom and then throw in a hokey pokey ever couple of minutes until I think someone has gotten the joke.
