I made it 1:30 before I got tired of them thinking they were funny. Before that I heard some shred guitar tones from an 80s beer commercial.

Right. Not a lot of demos on this amp yet. This video was set up with time stamps so you could jump to specific samples.. s’why I linked it.

I would get one of these. The ZT Club 12. 200W SS w/reverb, lotsa headroom and only 21 lbs. I used to have one, but sold it. Then they discontinued it. But, here's one on Reverb for $550.00.

If parts can be sourced, maybe they have some life? I'm currently typing on a 2009 MacBook Pro. It does have a SSD.
parts for Mac's can be hard to find,,,,,the few repair companies that repair them use scavenged parts out of broken ones because Apple that will NOT sell parts. They even have the government confiscating scavenged parts coming in from overseas. This is a predatory company that should be shut down. Its too bad that they make such good products and have this attitude. I love their phones but would never buy one. I will not support this company. Its a personal thing to me. Laptops are a disposable item like a tv anyway. I have 4 or 5 of them.

In that case, find yourself another Pathfinder. Personally I rarely come across a piece of equipment that I really really get along with

When the Pathfinders came out, the folks on TDPRI were really singing their praises. I bought one new and it was just perfect for me. I bought two others used from GC when they came available. I have used them for hundreds (probably over 1000) gigs, rehearsals, practice sessions and they never let me down.

At the time I was bleeding cash paying techs fixing my Super Reverb and another tube amp. Maybe they weren't good techs but I just couldn't keep going that way with amp downtime at one month plus in the shop and then the bill. Yes, you can fix tube amps, but you need a good tech or be able to be one. That never worked out well for me. If it works for you, good deal.

How did a Pathfinder take the place of a Super? Were you always playing on volume 1.5 with the Super?

The best kept secret for a modelling monitor under $300 is a used Peavey Bandit. Even better when the speaker is swapped for a neutral sounding Celestion Seventy 80 or similar. The 'Power Amp In' jack is the ticket. Plug your HX Stomp in this way and use the Stomp for volume control.
This is what I do with my Stomp. Straight into my Sessionette 75 combo's power amp into the Celestion Seventy 80..... no cab sims or IRs to obsess over.

Yes, the Super is a great amp but there was no place I could really play it as it should be. And the weight was getting tough for me. That ship has sailed. I can mic the Pathfinder or use the line out to the PA and then the amp acts as a guitar monitor for me.

Does this have an speaker output jack? All I see is an XLR out. Not having a speaker output is a major bummer for a gigging amp IMO but then again its not too hard to install one.

Not sure but I doubt it.. most modeling amps don’t. I think most players that want to move more air would xlr out to a powered speaker (PA or FRFR) since that is basically what the onboard amp and speaker are in these kind of units.

Two Fender SS 1x12 combos in stereo driven with an SD-1---> Wampler Tumnus--->RAT. EQ in the loop. Out of all my tube amps (11), this my favorite set-up. The response I get from my SS amps have an immediate tightness, warmth and bottom that I can't get from my tube amps ( multiple Mark and Rec Boogies, Marshall JCMs and Fenders). They are very much their own thing.

What Fenders do you use?

They don't make them anymore but I still love to use my Carvin SX amps.
I have an SX 200(12x2) my brother left in our garage. When I took it out last year nothing worked on it, even the light didn’t light up. I remember that when he got it, it was very nice. I think it’s about 15 years old, but now it’s just gathering dust. Don’t think I’ll ever bother to get fixed as Carvin doesn’t service them anymore since they changed names to Keisel.

That’s a shame. The SX10OD I bought back in ‘97 still works fine. I don’t use it too often, but the clean channel makes for a nice pedal platform. (Unlike Craig Anderton, I’m not too crazy about its overdrive emulation though)

Took the Katana out for a spin this weekend. I wasn’t too pleased with the sound live but honestly I was on my 3rd gig in 24 hours and on very little sleep. I couldn’t get it to sit right with the mix without it being too loud, switched it down to 50 watts and it was better but just wasn’t cutting through like I wanted.

I’m wondering if I should ditch my pedalboard in favor of the GA-FC and tweak my sounds in tone studio. Anyone use this live and like it?

For ANY amp, having something like a GE-7 EQ pedal as the last pedal before going into the amp's guitar input can be a lifesaver. You can bend over and make a little EQ peak in just the right frequency range that cuts through nicely in a live mix. Amps have tone controls, obviously, but it often takes a bit longer to dial them in given how they interact with each other and the volume knob.

OP: What kind of music do you want to use this for?
In most cases, a robust SS amp with a good "clean channel" will take your pedals or modeling box and glorify your sound.
I have an Aviator Cub, and it's a peach.
However, here's another SS amp that for some reason doesn't get much love (it's on my short list):
ElectroHarmonix Dirt Road Special - $400 brand new every day.
40 LOUD Watts.
Built like a Russian truck.
Everything you need and nothing you don't - including what's probably the world's best built-in reverb.

It can't be too hard to get that thing working again. I would look at it if you were nearby.

Mainly country and classic rock with a nice variety thrown in. I messed around in tone studio last night. I really think I can ditch the pedal board when using the katana with the footswitch. It’s pretty intuitive!
