I picked up one of these a few days ago as a “beater” and travel guitar. I am quite impressed with the build quality and overall tone. The neck and frets are finished quite nicely, and the alnico mystery-pups seem decent.

Pricewise and quality wise it seems comparable to a couple of CV telecasters I had in the past. (I gave these away to a couple of new guitar players in the family who needed something decent to learn on… I have since missed them them, even though I have a good ‘51 Nocaster reissue to ease the pain).

Sound? Well, it really does sound like a telecaster! Verdict: I like it a lot. The price is great, it’s comfortable to play and sounds good.

There was a brief discussion about these here almost a year ago. Anyone else with experience with these guitars? On par with Classic Vibe Teles quality-wise? Opinions?

I wish they came in more colors?

They're good squiers, which is to say almost as awesome as MiM fenders but with more features for substantially less $$.

They aren't as great as the Japanese ones feel or sound wise, but they're less than half the cost. They're at least on par with the CVs I'd say. Better than I thought they'd be when I tried them.

Yeah, I would have liked surf green, but I think they stopped making those. I don’t mind the white though.

I was happy to find out they were making these ‘Paranormal Offset’ models. I always liked the Jazzmaster/Jaguar body style but never cared for those particular guitars. But having that body with Tele pickups and features is very appealing.

That's ultimately what turned me off, as trivial as that might be.

With the pale maple neck, I personally don't think that colors like surf green or walnut brown (or whatever Squier actually called it) really look that good.

It would have been cool to have them in black, red, and (probably a darker) blue.

I don’t mind the white though.

I think it's the best of the bunch offered, especially with a tortoise 'guard.

I have a Paranormal Cabronita Thinline Telecaster, Lake Placid Blue and it's a better build quality, than some of the MIM guitars, my 2008 Road Worn 60s Strat, is the exception.

That was my first Tele. Somewhere I read that the pickups are the same of the CV, decent but I upgraded them to Custom Shop Texas Special that sound amazing, in fact, I got a MIJ that I returned because it didn’t sound as good as the modded Squier, also the MIJ had the truss rod adjustment at the neck joint that I hate.

Machine tuners are good, neck is nice, easy to play. Next mod is brass compensated saddles.

I don't have one of these, but I do have one of the Paranormal series guitars, the Super Sonic. It's really nice--some corners are cut with the input jack, and the vintage style tuners are a little slippy-sloppy, but the neck is really nice--very smooth, and I have no desire to knock the gloss off like I do with most of my guitars. I'm glad that it doesn't have the tinting like the CV guitars--it looks right as it is. Full size trem block, too--the only guitar I have the wiggle stick set up on. I might replace the hot humbuckers with Lace Sensor Duallys, but the middle position is surprisingly Fender-y.

love the feel of the body while playing sitting down - i don't gig so sitting in the living room is where i play, much more comfortable than my strat.
it's my fav guitar.
i put a 4 way switch and reversed vol - tone form 920D, dressed a few rough fret ends, changed to locking tuners, and some BOOTSTRAP pickups - i'm in love with it - and most importantly, it looks great. the wood is called Okume - African Mahogany.

Gosh, that's a pretty guitar. And yes, those waterbased-finished maple parts are really pretty barfy-looking without a tint. And yes I hate that cheap guitars only come in black and white but that's why God made spraycans. Approach a repaint with all the trepidation you can muster. It took five cans of color to put nitro over my poly Affinity Jazzmaster.

Three cans of Toyota red pearl and one can of clear coat from O'Reilly auto.
