Single pickup guitars do nothing for me, particularly since the single pickups always seem to be of the bridge variety. If someone put the single pickup in the neck position..... Nah, I’d still rather have the other one for variety. I like the ultra simple controls of the tele, but there’s no downside to a second pickup...

Ok I'll admit it: I have been weak and just pulled the trigger. Preorder from Andertons, hopefully everything will work fine.

    And the waiting begins...

Hi Mimmo. We're expecting a nice NGD thread with lots of pics, of course!

    Obviously...or it didn't happen! ;)
I only hope that it will not be too heavy and/or the neck won't be skinny. Just this.

Definitely won’t be too heavy. It’s missing the neck pickup :)

I think my MIM Standard tele has a poplar body, and it's one of the lightest teles I've played.

In weight, it's typically the equivalent of alder. It also varies as much as alder. Just depends on the individual chunk of wood it is.

I have emailed Fender asking about availability date and most importantly about the "rounded C" neck Andertons talk about on their web page.
I don't think they will come with a chunkier neck, in any case I will post here the answer as I get it.

Wow! Looks awesome. A nice thick neck would sell it for me. The vintage white and that tinted neck really look great together.

Anybody seen a good enough pic to know if it says ESQUIRE on the headstock?

Really bothers me that my Classic Vibe Custom doesn’t say Custom Telecaster on it. I wouldn’t normally be one to sand off the name, but they leave me no choice in this case.

Those mock up pictures have been floating around for a couple of months with no sign of the real thing or a potential date. If it's an April Fool someone is playing the long game.

Help an ignorant guy out here, I'm not very familiar with Esquires. What's the purpose of the pickup selector switch if there is only one pickup? In/out of phase?

There are several possibilities, actually, but if I am not wrong I'd say that the classic (historic) configuration is
    1. Pick up with only volume knob, that gives a more trebly sound
    2. Pick up with both vol and tone knob, classic tele sound and
    3. Pick up very bass-y, all the highs are cut off - for today's music it is almost unusable.

Check for some videos on YT and you will hear that.
Some more expert guys will probably chime in.
    Hope this helps.
