I have been wanting to buy a Squier CV 50s Tele in Vintage Blonde but the Sterling JV60 seems like such a great deal with the locking tuners and roasted maple neck! I currently play an Epiphone Casino Coupe and I'm looking for a guitar with a great neck to get me inspired. A couple of my questions are:

How is the 2020 Indonesian model of the CV 50s Tele? Is it good (stacking up to the good rep that the 50s Teles have) or should I wait for improvements in the coming years?

How does the Squier CV 50s Tele compare to the Sterling JV60 in neck playability and overall quality?

Asking since I live in a country that currently doesnt stock either. I'll have to have it shipped internationally.

I played a couple Indonesian CV expecting them to suck from some opinions I’ve seen, but they were as good as MIC. I’m a bit of a CV 50s fanboy, but at least those I played were as good as any other I’ve had/owned. I still think they’re one of the best values out there.

I haven’t played that particular model of Sterling, but every Sterling I’ve played has felt cheap to me. Completely left me flat, and I really wanted to like Sterling, I think Ernie Ball/MM have some of the coolest designs.

Latest 2020 CV50’s are Crafted in China. Not Indonesia.

Was a period when Blonde was CIC, and Butterscotch were Indonesia.
This may have changed. My 2020 Blonde is CIC. Do you have a late model B.S.?

    cheers

    Sorry no.

I’m very much a novice. So wouldn’t necessarily recognise a good guitar vs a bad one.

For what it’s worth my Son has a MiM Strat and a Chinese LP (Gear 4 Music). I much prefer my Tele over the Strat. I find it easier to make progress with. The LP is horrible.

I bought a sterling Sub Stingray bass. It was used and my first. I am so incredibly impressed by this thing! I did just buy a Squier and it too is awesome but that’s sterling is just so solid. I don’t know the right answer but I do wish I would have gotten a sterling much sooner!

that was just the hold over stock/emergency production from some sort of manufacturing snafu.

they have switched over to indo production.

I'd go by how they play and sound. You can't feel or hear locking tuners or a roasted neck. You can probably find a new CV to try out, but finding a Sterling may be more difficult.
