Hi, have a good day. I'm worried about originality of my squier afinity telecater. Because my serial number is not similiar to other serial numbers. I can't register my guitar on fender web site.

    Front of head stock:
    "Squier by fender
    Telecaster Affinity Series "

    back side of head stock:
    "Designed and baked by
    Fender
    s/n CSSJ19xxxxxx
    Crafted in China "

That looks like a full standard Tele width! Is it string through or top loader? Does the truss rod adjustment hole have a black insert?

Can you give us more pictures of the whole guitar front and back?

The CSS in the serial number is the factory, although the second S may denote "Special", the J is the month (10th letter in the English alphabet for October) and the first two numbers are the year 2019.

I've heard those numbers (including my CSSK) numbers are new factories in China. http://www.squier-talk.com/threads/affinity-telecaster.171857/
I had no problem registering it in February. Maybe call Fender.

They are different than previous models.
They have what the above poster asked.

Hey has anyone installed locking tuners on there squier Tele?? The genuine Fender locking tuners do not have the little set screw like the tuners that came on this Squier. Bummer. I saw a set of Grover locking tuners but they did not have the thumb wheel on them. Any suggestions from my fellow Squier Telecaster owners??

I have installed Schaller locking tuners (M6 135, older model). The 2001 Standard Tele didn't have those screw holes at all, so had to be drilled. And it might be that even there are similar looking ones, they still may be placed slightly differently. Plus good to check that peg hole size is similar too.

It's good to be careful when drilling hard maple, especially with screw holes. Not too tight, not too loose, don't want anything to crack.

I used these Musiclily locking tuners on my Chinese-made Affinity Tele (October 2019 manufacture). A completely drop-in replacement:
Musiclily Pro 6 inline Guitar... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071HP77WX/?tag=tdpri-20

I strongly suggest using the original tuners’ screws into the back of the headstock, and lubricating the screws’ threads with a bar of soap. The screws Musiclily supplies are more brittle than the originals. Try to use the original threads when attaching them, and it isn’t necessary to tighten them very hard.

These tuners work well for me, and make fast restringing easy.

    No drilling required?

None whatsoever. The bushings are the same size, and the sealed case has the tab in the exact position for the set screw.

Highly recommended. Using them since February 2020.

Thanks. I put them on my Amazon wish list. I'm so new I've never even changed strings yet. I'm a former aircraft mechanic, but this is all new to me. I just found out humidity can cause string buzz. I was brave enough to adjust the truss rod.

Buy it on Amazon, and install them when you change strings. If you use the proper hand tools, lube the set screws with soap, and tighten the bushings and screws firmly but not overly tight, the tuner change with the Musiclily lockers is as easy as a string change.

I have an Affinity Tele with a CSSI prefix and the number starts with 19 also. Apparently the Affinity production was switched back to China. I've never tried to register mine so I can't give info on that, but it is definitely the genuine article.
