I was just thinking about all the guitars I've owned and how long each specific one was owned. I figured it might say something about my preferences in models, builds and brands. I came up with 25 although I know I've forgotten more than a few. They must not have been that important. Also, after listing them all, I thought I should color code them. The finest will be gold.

From the longest to the shortest ....

1). Acoustic Control Corp. "Black Widow". (Somewhat similar to a Gibson "Lucille"). 45 years. Note* retired after 3 refrets at 30 years but I still own it for the memories. (bought new).
2). Ibanez GAX .........22 years. (still own). (bought new).
3). '89 Ibanez RG ........... 21 years. (still own). (bought used).

My les Paul turned 16 years old this year I bought it new

I’ve owned my 79/80 fender lead ii for around 18 years

Both are great guitars although the lead could use a little care

I’ve kept most of mine although I wouldn’t have a problem selling some of them

I’ve had my avatar guitar the longest, since 1988.
I got the Philip Kubicki neck for it in 1984.
My Chet has been with me since 2005.
I’ve had my Goodall acoustic since 2008.
The other 14 are comparatively recent acquisitions.
I like nice guitars.
They seem to like me, too.;)

The longest is an MIA Strat I bought in the early 90’s, probably ‘91. I play teles about 99.9% of the time now so it just sits.

My modified by the previous owner '63 Strat, since 1987. That's the one I've had the longest. I sold off everything except it and a Kramer Ferrington (bought in 1988) in 1992.

I started acquiring again in 1998 and have been averaging 2-4 guitars a year ever since. I've kept most of them, selling or trading very few.

My "oldest" is my 1961 Les Paul Jr that I bought in 1969.
I assume I still have a mid-seventies Conn acoustic 12-string I bought new. (I say assume, because I haven't opened the case in 35-40 years to even check)
A 1983 MIJ Fender Squier Stratocaster bought around 1990.....nice guitar but neck is just too slim.
1993 MIK Fender Squier Telecaster, bought around 1999, which has been through MANY changes and modifications.
Oh, can I include a Ceruti of Cremona violin, dated 1809? My parents bought it for me around 1964. I took it in for an appraisal twenty years ago, and he said it was actually a counterfeit from around 1900, so still pretty old. :(

The longest I ever owned a guitar was for 10 years. It was a 2005 American Standard Tele, and was the first Tele I ever bought. I've owned my Gibson Advanced Jumbo acoustic for a little over two years now, but both of my electrics are new-to-me as of this year. I have done a lot of buying and selling over the past 20 years or so. There are probably a few regrets in there, but I don't dwell on them. I've learned a lot of lessons in the process.

I still have every guitar I've ever bought/acquired.

The first was an early 70's Fender acoustic. The second was a 1963 Tele. I bought both of those 50 years ago in 1972 when I first started playing.

I have around a dozen guitars, but the last one I actually bought was in 1994 - a nice Washburn acoustic.

Cheers,
Doug

Fifty years now, for my old Yairi classical. My oldest electric is an old beater, apparently from a kit, that I bought for about $30 about 30 yrs. ago; haven't played it much, but I got a lot of practice with various repairs and modifications through mucking around with it. Only got serious about electrics seven or eight years ago, and did a little building, so there's a bunch in the 5-8 year range.

I've had my Stratocasters a 2000 American Series and a 60's Classic since 2000. I have a Washburn acoustic I got sometime in late 80's.
