Speaking of old computers, anyone swap a drive into a MacBook?

I have a 2009 1/2 MacBook Pro small screen for my recording studio and the CD/DVD drive has gone belly up on me. Anyone out there have experience replacing one? Seems like it should be simple enough, but thought I'd ask first.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I don’t remember all the differences between the year models but generally speaking... It’s not the hardest. Just be careful of the cables. The ribbon ones in those are fragile.

As long as you’re patient, and not the kind of person that just forces things when you’re frustrated you should be fine.

Go see if OWC “other world computing” has a video or instruction set on the process.

Don't know "OWC", but I'll check it out.

    Thanks.:)

I just got here, I'm not Florida man, yet...
iFixit.com has video's and manuals as well as parts. MacSales as noted above is one of my go-to Mac shops.

Nice vid. Being a mechanical engineer, it looks very easy. Nice link. Thank you so much.

Super thank you. I didn't know where to go for purchasing a new drive either.

Sorry can't help with this. I just put a Solid State Drive in my Mac Mini. They must have 6 year old children assembly these things. Everything is so tiny!! But success on the replacement, I didn't break anything. I did have to load a fresh copy of Mac OS (Mojave). I'm not very skilled in the Apple OS space, and was not successful in Cloning the Old Hard Drive.
