My 3 fave alnicos with high power handling (you've already named two):
1. Emi Red Fang
2. EV SRO (the greatest IMO)
3. WGS Blackhawk HP 100

That being said, I LOVE Webers lower watt offerings. Tone city for sure!

I was looking for a used Blackhawk a couple of years ago, but they didn't come up for a price I wanted to pay, and the more I searched the more Red Fangs sold for around $150 or even less.
The Blackhawks sound similar to an SRO, right? (but 10 pounds lighter!)
I'd also be interested in a Jensen Blackbird, but again, $$$.

Swamp Thang ? Dude are you crazy? No way can a speaker that retails under a hundred bucks be any good.
You HAVE TO spend atleast double that.

It takes money to sound good and I should know I have some expensive speakers and they sound great sittting on a shelf collecting dust.

Great Plains Audio also bought All of the Altec Lansing equipment and Still Makes the 417H

It is Alnico V x 100 Watts and 98db.

I personally like Hemp Coned JBL E120's but theyre ceramic.

Another Good Alnico is a DF or K Series JBL with Hemp Cones or Tone Tubby Nashville Alnico. But at 75 watts for me the TT and DF are not quite Powerful enough.

Your amp is 45 watts. Dimed its capable of close to 90 Watts.

I wouldn't put ANYTHING LESS than a 100 Watt Speaker in it if I was going to run it hard and use Drive or Fuzz Pedals.

I still like the 100w x 100db Fane AXA12 Alnico.

No way would I put a 50 Watt Celestion Gold in a 45 watt amp. 2 of them I would.

25 watts rms would be Max for me on a 50 watts Speaker.

EV EVM12L is also a Great speaker. +2

For using 1 Speaker formats I myself like Fane, Altec, JBL EV, Gauss, Tone Tubby. Some Eminence. Hi Tone. But you have to also buy the cabinet.

Eminence makes Speakers for Hi Tone and Eminence made than unavailable as Raw Speakers.

I make the cabinet together with my dad. He has all the tools, I know how to make it :)

Would you put a speaker in the amp with less watts Then the amp make???

A 25watt speaker? I want clean headroom. If the amp should go in to overdrive, then it should be the amp because
I turn it up, and not the speaker that makes the sound.

NO you need a speaker that can take AT LEAST 2 times what the amp can put out.

45 watt amp = 90+ watt RMS Speaker.
My AC30, in the 60s had two 15w Celestion Blues. Never blew them and I played loud.

You can be ok as long as the speakers match the amp wattage, although most speaker manufacturers recommend the speaker(s) should be 1.5 times the amp wattage. That's why I went with the Gold rather than the Blue

Most amps have a speaker with almost the same watt as the amp is giving.

If not the celestion gold, what about the Weber High power Chicago 12? Its on 60watt

If you want loud I'd try the Swamp Thang. It's rated at 150 watts and some where around 100 DBs. Also around 95 bucks here in the States.

It dont have to be loud. It should just take some of the sharp treble and make it a bit Warmer sounding :)

I Think i go for the celestion gold

Its gonna be a alnico speaker anyway

Look at weber Amsterdam hemp. Comes in alnico or ceramic mag. Measure that big bell if you get alnico. But for what your asking for I'd probably go with ceramic anyway. 80w speaker for your 45w amp, plenty of leeway.

Talking about expensive Alnico speakers. I used to have a 5E3 that came with a Jensen Blackbird. Later I bought a second 5E3 (which I still own) with a Tone Tubby Red Alnico. They are very similar speakers. Expensive, very loud but they sound big, round, warm, fat.

I buyed a 12" Jensen blackbird 100watt speaker.

I got the super reverb amp kit

I just wait to get the wood from the carpenter, so I can build a cabinet for the amp.

I can't wait!!!
