Mine has the G10 gold in it, sounds good. But, the best sounding PR (1965) i ever heard had a stock speaker, maybe it was the age, IDK.

    What is your choice?

I'e got a Weber 12F150W (25watt) in my '67. To me it's the perfect speaker for that amp after trying about half a dozen. The "W" indicates a little more top end.

I've heard others say that the Celestion Gold speaker and that amp are a match made in heaven. It's hard to imagine topping it unless you're going for a different tone. Perhaps you heard one with a vintage Jensen in it. Emi Allesandro seems to play well with others for that American sound and they're loud. I'd say go with wabashslim's suggestion, sounds like he's already made the rounds.

I want to stay with a 10" speaker, don't care for 12" speakers in PR's. The Gold is a bit dark and spikey at the same time. Something less efficient and smoother is what I would like. I should have never sold the 65...

Allesandro SC64 GA10. I have one in my 83 Superchamp, the clean channel of which is basically BF Princeton.

Sounds wonderful, doesn't fart out. It's basically same basket as a Legend, but a paper voicecoil former and smaller ceramic magnet. Basically, sounds like an old Jensen. Doesn't fart out.

This amp's become my gigging go to.

Weber Signature 10AS matches that recipe. Cheap, too.

I should have mentioned that besides having a 12" Weber there's also a Deluxe Reverb OT in there, that really un-levels the playing field. My second favorite speaker was a Greenback, followed by a Weber-reconed Alnico Blue.

Jensen c12q in mine. Sounds great, can't imagine what would improve it.

This amp came from the factory with the Gold, maybe it hasn't broken in yet...

    For 10 inch:
WGS G10C and G10C/S are popular. The Veteran 10 gets some love also.
Webber 10F150 and ceramic California 10 are popular as well.

Could warm and jazzy be associated with that Allesandro? Trying to decide between it and a Cannabis Rex in a SCX2

    Eminence Ram Rod.

I had 3 PR's but I sold one. I still have two a 12" Cannabis Rex in one and a 10" copperhead in the other one. I gig with the CR speaker. The one I sold had a Ram Rod in it and I wish I would have kept that speaker. It wasn't my first choice for a speaker but I bought the Ram Rod at a great deal because I needed a speaker for the amp I was selling and it sounded so good I want to buy another one. I never would have picked that one but it was great.

I never liked Celestion speakers but maybe I just had a bad one, last time I had one it was just flat, dead sounding, don't remember the model number.

I bought mine from a jazz afficionado with a PRRI. He thought at the lowish clean volume he played at, the speaker was lacking a little in the mids. Jensen tone in the originals is a bit mid-scooped, matches Fender BF tone. He was going to a Celestion G10 Gold for it's more prominent mids.

I tend to use the SuperChamp edge-of-breakup. I love it.

There’s a YouTube video of the new cannabis Rex 10 in a PRRI, see if that fits the bill.

I have the 10" Emi Allesandro in mine, and it will stay. The closest I have come to topping it was a JBL D110, which is pretty darn sweet. Basically, a ceramic versus alnico decision.

I have a Jensen Falcon 10” in mine - love it. It’s apparently a bit more of an even freq response than the C series.

I have a WGS G10 in an ext cab and it sounds fabulous through that too. Although it is much louder than then Falcon and a has bit more sparkle to the top end.
