Seems a few of the usual suspects have stopped supplying blanks or closed in one case.

Is anyone able to point me in the direction of a reliable source of quality lightweight blanks. I am in Australia so export will require the dealer to have an excellent track record.

    Thanks

Pitbull is still supplying ash bodies. Some of them are multipiece and mismatched grain.

Showing out of stock, but they've got more coming August they said.

Ash has been suffering the ramifications of a bug infestation.. it's getting harder and harder to find any "good" stuff... sourcing a supplier is time consuming.. Time is money to large manufacturers so it's just lest costly to drop it altogether.

I'm afraid Ash is about to become the Chestnut of the 21's Century.

    Thanks for the tips
Australian ash is a fine timber for guitar and fine furniture building - unfortunately most of our resources have been used as pulp for paper - unbelievable - now they are beginning to lock up remaining old growth stands in the south east - It is a very plain looking timber and has a problem with hidden gum veins which show up as red voids after you've machined down to thickness :((

I see RickyRicardo list 3 suppliers that I found in a search straight up. Has any one used any of these outfits successfully?

Of course as is everything we buy from america. Add it up put your price forward and it either goes or dies. Often cheaper a timber option will be opted for. When the budget is under threat Alder is cheap as is mahogany.

email Steve Ondich at commercial forest products.
I live in Israel and have gotten some nice stuff from him in the past.
Someone here recommended woodtoworks and i can vouch for them as well.
They used to offer shipping by sea which was considerably cheaper (and slower) compared to intl. shipping by air.
