Hahaha! I have played many many many professional gigs with my "squire replicas" and have never had a complaint. It's ironic since it sounds like the guy is trying to start up a soul revue band similar to another Irish soul band known as "The Commitments". Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...haha!

People like that are usually the ones who've never played a paying gig. ;)

Based on their spelling, if it were me, I would show up for the audition dressed as an authentic medieval squire.

Someone has been watching too many showings of 'The Commitments'.

When I joined our current set up,there was a 3 hour, ever changing set to learn. In total around 300 songs in the bank. My audition and first year was spent using a Squier Telecustom 2,yet amazingly I wasn't sacked.

The ad placers let themselves down by stereotyping cheap instruments with crap playing. Their loss.

Its a good thing I own a lot of Squiers. It would suck if I owned the cheap knock off Squires.

Hey, don't be such a brand snob! Squire guitars are every bit as good as Squier guitars, for a fraction of the price! I can get 3 Squires for the price of 1 Squier, and with a bit of setup, they're just as good if not better than any Squier.

    :D

Funny this, I play in a soul covers band, and I have often used my Squiers.

In fact for the set list of songs we do, which also includes some rockier, less "soul" numbers one of the most ideal guitars is a Squier 51.

Which ironically was one of Squier original designs.

I would encourage a lot of hot musicians to turn up to the auditions playing Squiers and Rondos:lol:

He needs to ask himself who he would ideally like playing in his band;- Steve Cropper playing an Affinity Tele or some hack playing a Custom Shop?;)

    I liek this post! :D

Actually, it is true. Look in CL for "squire" guitars not "squier" and there's where the bargains are most "liekly" to be found. Seems those who cannot spell, get frustrated because most buyers go directly to the Squier listings and never see the misspelled ones.

If they're making "knock-offs" does that mean my Squier's worth more?

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who cannot get Squier right even when it is writ large on the headstock of he instrument they are attempting to sell. The placers of this add have an excuse though as they obviously would never allow themselves to even gaze upon a Squier let alone read the headstock logo.

 Was thinking the same... is it ok for an Irish band to replicate afroamerican soul music? But not ok to audition if you play an Asian guitar replica?
