OK, it's all about elegy/ play on words / conceit... I actually don't think you need this stating! BUT, ... The effort and work of making alcohol and the intrinsic need to work, .. Versus (compared to) .. The escape from consuming alchohol, the devotion/need to escape from the humdrum of life, .... To the futility of not being devotional!
