The rhythm guitar after he shuts off the Fuzz Face and the vocals kick in are so primal and raw = stupifiyingly great:

********

The rhythm guitar in the right speaker is major ear candy on this one... how this sounds so heavy without a modern high gain amp in 1967 is a mystery (I asked him but he couldn't remember):

Don't know if these have been mentioned, but for me, here goes:

- The Mike Bloomfield parts of Super Session (Stephen Stills' bits are good but Bloomfield knocks it out of the park, especially on "Stop" and "Really")
- Much of late '70s/early '80s Keef (Some Girls to Tattoo You) -- especially "Slave" on Tattoo You, "Let Me Go" from Emotional Rescue
- "One Room Country Shack" by Buddy Guy from A Man & The Blues (1968)
- "Cherry Red" by Mike Bloomfield from one of his late '70s live sets (can you tell that I'm a Bloomfield fan?)
- "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" (live) from Simon & Garfunkel's Concert in Central Park (David Brown from Billy Joel's band on guitar)
- "Girl Asks Boy, Pt. 1" by Bill Frisell

I'm so fixated on James Burton's playing on this song. I might be conflating tone with feel and technique, but I really do dig the overdrive he's getting here. It really suits the tempo and the feel. I'm guessing this is his velvet hammer era? That would account for the grit.
