I know I'm in good company on this. I was one of those guys who always thought Stuck in the Middle With You by Steeler's Wheel was by Bob Dylan. I'd post a clip from Reservoir Dogs but I don't think it would be kosher with the admins.

Growing up I always thought The James Gang Funk #49 was Zeppelin.

For years I thought Waitin' For the Bus was Talking Heads. Billy Gibbons' voice sounds like David Byrne in that song.

For years I thought Holiday Road was a Kenny Loggins jam.

I thought LCW had a little bit of a CCR vibe. Not a lot. But I sure didn't think it was The Hollies the first time I heard it.
I was gonna post Lies just now but you beat me to it.

I remember when those songs came out there were a lot of people who thought the same. Now, thinking back with a more finely tuned ear, I wonder how we could have thought that. The vocal on Long Cool Woman certainly is not John Fogerty's distinctive howl. I guess I would have to attribute it to youthful untrained ears.

I had the great pleasure of playing with the drummer on this record a couple of times.
The late, great Barry “Frosty” Smith was a truly brilliant musician.
He passed a couple of years ago.
    RIP, brother.

Stuck in the Middle With You was very Dylan-ish

Just Like Me by Paul Revere and the Raiders could been the Kinks.

Without You (written by the folks in Badfinger not Harry Neilson) could be the Beatles if they had written it.

Dire Straits' 'Money for Nothing'. When I first heard the beginning, I thought it must be from the new ZZ Top album (Afterburner)

Apparently, Knopfler had been consulting Billy Gibbons on the sound....
