...and over and over and over.

I have recently decided that I just don't like this kind of song, regardless of the genre. It's irritating, feels like the songwriter was just lazy, or uncreative, or some combination of things. I just don't like them, even of the music is good, and/or the rest of the lyrics are good. I have even applied this to songs that have been around and I have enjoyed for a very long time, even to the point of scratching some tunes off my favorites list.

Anybody else like this?

I am certainly with you on that. I have always hated repetition in songs.

I like songs with less chorus and more verses, even chorus can have different words but repeating verses is silly. Too minimal. But that's what the listening audiences like, repeating beats and jiggles. Damn the video is more important than the song.

Two verses and a two-line chorus repeated a half-dozen times is an awful song. And there are SO many examples. There are a few examples of songs with repetitious lyrics that are musically interesting enough to not bother me. But most of the time, I shut those songs down when I hear'em.
