"Love Reign O'er Me" by the Who always gets to me...

And 2 songs by Gordon Lightfoot:

"Tattoo" and "Affair on 8th Avenue."

    Lovely.

The original version of "Dreams" from the Allman Brothers first album. Gregg's lyrics and voice and Duane's solo just seem to come from the same soulful, if slightly bruised, heart. It gets me every time.

Also "Caroline, No" from the Beach Boy's Pet Sounds.

Im not in the best place of my life right now. I have cried with so many songs recently, this one hit me hard.

Nick Drake - Place to Be

    Just listen to that lyrics

"And I was strong, strong in the sun
I thought I'd see when day was done
Now I'm weaker than the palest blue
Oh, so weak in this need for you"

    "I Grieve". Peter Gabriel.
First time I heard it was when my 7 yo had leukemia.
    I was floored.
Sam's 25 now and all that's behind us.
But the song still gets me. The beginning of it anyway.

Okay, you won’t probably understand a single word about this one. The title in English is something like ”The last row call of veteran”. In Finnish it symbolic saying of dying when the last row call begins.

It’s a song that WW2 veterans sang after the war and sing even nowadays to bring their message to future generations. And that they’re all gone soon.

I usually dislike sentimetal stuff like this and I really dislike military music. I’ve had my fair share of that. But this is kinda moving.

The lead singer is Jorma Hynninen, famous opera guy. And the choir, well those are the veterans.

Just to the verge; think about singing something like this about your mother - or equivalent...

Seems like the BBC has decided the song is a bit much too, not for its ability to make grown men cry, but (of course) for the naughty words...

The Pogues though - what a band. Miserable, brilliant, punk as all get-out on lutes and stuff, what a band.

    This one makes me smile.

"Sing me a love song where nobody dies"

I had not really listened to the lyrics to this until recently.

I've actually been putting a fair amount of thought into this, and there are quite a number I could mention as could most of us based on where we've been and where we are. But the one I have always loved and gets me every time I hear it is Roberta Flack singing Killing Me Softly.
