Not necessarily your faves, or funnest ones, or ones that most impress you. Just the ones that have this effect on you.

Today, playing stuff kinda haphazardly while cleaning the house, Neil Young's "Natural Beauty" did this to me. It (almost) always does. Strongly.

    "Layla's" piano outro, too. Always.

Also "Let It Be" (the one with the big, scorching lead guitar solo and Salvation Army-sounding horns), Dylan's original versions of "Girl from the North Country" and "Most of the Time," Mozart's K174 Quintet Adagio , "The Boxer," "Wild Horses," "With or Without You" (another entrancing outro), "The Boxer," Percy's "When a Man Loves a Woman," etc.

Not sure what the link or pattern is, but oh well. (Maybe it's obvious to someone else.) What a weird set of reactions are wired into us. Something really chords the soul--and we raise our feathers so the hunter can more easily see us, or do the Manitoba skin-skittle, or something?

    So, what're your goose bumplers?

This one has always creeped me out since the day I heard it as a child.

This version increases the creep factor brilliantly, IMHO.

Steve Rothery's guitar solo on 'Sugar Mice' (Marillion) does that to me very time. It just screams out the raw emotion, and then interweaves with Fish's vocals when he comes back in.

This one. Jeff and Sir George built a masterpiece with this one.

Such an incredible melody, brilliantly understated soloing. Inspired counterpoint throughout by the orchestra.

And to top it off, Beck is smart enough to bow out and let Max Middleton and the orchestra have the final refrain. Just perfect.

Especially when the synthesizer bass line dips, *mmmwwwAAARRRR*, like Tibetan monks chanting.

"Chicken skin music"? Oh not like that? Well music that moves you is the only kind I like, and it's everywhere :)

Recent examples: The War on Drugs, just about every other song

Neko Case can do it frequently too:

Post rock tries to capture that moment, but you have to work for it, have some patience. Then it floods out. Godspeed You! Black Emperor, ok.

    In no particular order

    - Still Got The Blues, Gary Moore. Some of the most emotional guitar work ever recorded
    - Mama Don’t Forget To Pray for Me, Diamond Rio. The lyrics!
    - Red and Rio Grande, Doug Supernaw...lyrics are in my mind a perfect reflection of my viewpoint of home

Every time the piano kicks in towards the end of this one I get goosebumps. I will always love this song and the entire album. Great live one!

original recorded version of the song didn't do this to me, but I watched Springsteen on Broadway on Netflix last night. Bruce sat down at the piano and played The Wish (dedicated to his Mom). That one hit me really hard.

    This one, too.

Even, I think, if it didn't remind me of the many wrenchingly poignant scenes in that movie.

This one gets me pretty good, too...
