if there was a song that inspired you to start playing guitar, what was it? For me, it was "Say it Ain't So" by Weezer.

I was maybe all of five years old when "Apache" by Danish guitarist Jorgen Ingmann was a #2 hit record in the U.S.
It made me aware of the sound of the guitar. I began listening for other guitar instrumentals, which were still somewhat common at the time. I didn't begin trying to play until some years later.

I hate to admit it, but I'll chalk it up to being 10 years old.
It was the Royal Guardsman's, uh, classic "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron".
It has a classic I-IV-V barre chord solo break, and I thought that was so cool.
It shoulda been the Beatles, but at 10, I was busy parroting my Dad's dismissal of those girly looking Brits. ;)
To aquit myself just a little, local garage bands playing my church teen dances and park/playground around this time would about make my dumb little heart pound out of my chest.
I got to rockin' as soon as I could.

I've been watching guitar players live for over 30 years and always thought of playing. Do to the influence of Joel Paterson, not so much a song, I started about 3 years ago. As time goes by I've increasingly become more serious.

"Walk Don't Run", cover by The Ventures did it for me. Single notes, plus a sliding barre cord version gave me early success.:)

Yep, surf guitar junkie for years.

Not a single song, but all the songs on Bob Dylan's "Bringing it all back Home" sure was a starting point for me.

I can't recall a time when I didn't want to create music. There were however a few instruments before I took up guitar. The Beatles influence were undoubtedly behind my guitar interest. I couldn't say for sure, there was no epiphany.

The first things I can remember playing, or rather trying to play are "Apache", "Telstar" and "Nivram", but what really got me hooked was the folk/blues movement, Bob Dylan and the like. The first arrangement I can remember that I would call my own is "Banks of the Ohio".

A little goofy, but Michael J Fox played "Jonny Be Good" in the movie Back To The Future when I was a kid and that kind of flipped my lid. My parents took me to see the stones and some other shows in the 80s too, but it was that goofy movie that really turned me on to old school rock and roll first and made me want to play it.

'The King Will Come' by Wishbone Ash. I borrowed a copy of 'Argus' from a friend who raved about it. The longest track I'd heard at that point was Cream's 'Spoonful' and I was intimidated by side 1 having only 3 tracks! - so I started at side two and heard guitars sound the way I thought they should for the first time. That was it for me.
