Hard to believe Jack took a run at that one.
Son House had 'em BAD.
Many have tried . . . and failed to match this.
For your enjoyment...
I think Jack knocked it out of the park. Especially in his live versions. Definitely one of his top 3 songs.
Someone really wanted me to read a Henry Rollins bio...so I did.
He clearly had a big thing for Diamanda.
Being I never thought much of Henry, I never looked into Diamanda.
That's the first I've heard.
She...hmmm... displays emotion....how's that?
Her voice needs MOAR VIBRATO!!!!
I read that too. What an interesting combo. Rollins & Diamanda. I recall him mentioning her residing in SD at the time. I'd have never thought.
I've mentioned before, I went to the Berkeley shows that ended up on that album above (Iron Lady, Gloomy Sunday). To say it was intense was an understatement. I understand she's an acquired taste.
I like the white stripes studio, it’s a youthful take on it
Cassandra Wilson's version is my favourite contemporary take on this song.
While reading about Son House I found the source of the OP video. From Camera Three:
His take on Blind Willie McTell's Your Southern Can is Mine is also not holding back..
I agree, also an awesome song!
Can't nobody play the blues like Blind Willie McTell, at least according to Mr. Zimmerman.
