If they offered to deliver and set it up and tune it...

You're right though, that'd be pretty awesome

That seems like a nice deal for sure. I see free pianos listed but not a BG!

Based on my CL experience, there is probably someone who has already asked if they can deliver it.

Offer something cheap, they will ask for it for free. Offer something free, they will ask you to bring it to them.

Maybe we could float it down the Mississippi and you could fish it out of the Gulf.

    Pianos float, right?

    :)

That does happen. There is a Yamaha grand piano with player piano feature in the UW children's hospital. I helped the former and new owners with the player electronics part after it got moved to the facility.

Heck yeah! If it turns out to be a dud you could always let the neighbor children go Art of Noise on it.

Christ, I used to move pianos. Theres a reason they're free. They become an elephant sized hot potato when you need to move.

In my town, free pianos are always popping up. They are somewhat like boats in that the happiest days are the day you get it and the day you convince someone else to take it away. With great pianos come great responsibility.

I like my tube amps over modelers but I'll take a weighted-action digital piano 999 times out of 1000 on this one.

Maybe if you're gigging. My wife got a baby grand when she turned 50. I tried to test the water for a digital piano. Her piano teacher nixed that with a look like I was suggesting straggling cats.

You could go to Menards and rent one of those $17 per hour trucks that they have available for moving lumber and windows.

Then offer three friends a case of good beer for helping.

Tuning a piano here is about $90.

    You’d have a baby grand for $170.

    Work it Blowtorch!

When we bought our grand piano three men lifted it and carried it into our house. Then two of the men lifted the body while the smaller guy crawled under it and bolted the legs on.

When the small guy crawled under the piano I sh*t myself.

I think they were the three toughest men that I’ve ever been in a room with. The small guy could probably punch me into next month. I tipped them very well.

I'm driving through Madison in a few days. That won't fit in the Hyundai Sonata unless I strap it to the hood.

I once hired movers who also advertised that they were piano movers. As I was working delivering office furniture/restaurant equipment at the time, I commented on how difficult that must be. The reply was “no, it’s easy; you always know what you’re getting, because pianos only come in a few different sizes and shapes. Once you know how to handle those, no problem. And you make good money, because everybody thinks they can move their own apartment, but nobody thinks they can move their piano.”

I even have a U-Haul agent down the road. Talking to the wife tonight. She's the piano player.
