I'd like to have me one of them Fender Cars! Back in the day, your lady always sat right next to you like the gal in the car. Now if they sit next to you, they get a seat belt ticket, and maybe become too well acquainted with the gear shift.

Ah, yes, the desperate CBS/Fender "cartoon/funny" posters...[ thumbs down ]

The Bob Perine "You won't part with yours either" posters...[ thumbs UP ]

This is from Leo's time, the famous "Deaf Little Girl" ad:

The book Fender: The Golden Age 1946-1970 by Martin Kelly is a great source for both history and memorabilia like this. All the great Perine stuff.

Yeah, if she didn't sit next to you she was a "door hugger."

I'm an old adman. Not a madman exactly. More like a vodka-man in those days.

Just want to say, you can't look back at the advertising then and judge it based on your perspective today.

These print ads, just about all of them, were powerful and effective messengers of the messages.

Hell, print advertising is now dead anyway, and this disgusts me. But that's my own personal bias, and it's a new world.

Damn. I love this stuff.

Do you have a higher resolution of the second image, so I can read the text?

It's too low Res now.

WAIT ! Never mind!

It's fine.
Yeah, click the image. I felt uncomfortable posting much more, because it's a copyrighted book I'm taking photos of.

I can't recommend the book highly enough, if you're into this sort of thing. It may be out of print now. I have one new copy, and I bought a second one used just to have, I like it so much. It's the only book I've ever done that with. Just make sure you get the big format hard cover. Excellent photography.

I was able to find most of the cartoon Fender ads in a magazine called Craw Daddy
I framed them and they hang in my music room.

Pretty cool stuff , The dragster might be my favorite.

1969 - "Annihilate your neighbors and parents with thunderous, stadium filling volume! And get any chick you want while doing it!!"

2017 - "One low watt for that quiet bedroom sound. And guaranteed not to offend anyone."
