I played it safe and moved in with a woman 17 years younger than me.
Never did earrings, never did tats, and a month away from my 49th birthday I'm not feeling the need to change that. I've got a couple of scars from my youthful adventures with racing cars; that'll do for body mods. But I might buy a new Tele, just because.
Worst decision I ever made was getting piercings. Now I have no rings, studs etc and I'm 50. What I do get is the holes that are left continuously filling up with gunk, which has to be cleaned out most of the tone. Kids if your reading this don't bother, they may be cool when you're young, but they're a complete pain in the backside later on in life.
I was at the mall (remember malls?) with my then eleven year old daughter when I said that I'd been thinking about getting one ear pierced. She complained so much that I said that I wouldn't.
After an hour or so of shopping and strolling you turned to me and said, "You know Dad, I think you should get your ear pierced, it'll look cool."
So I did.
Stop looking at me like that!
I had both my ears pierced over forty years ago. Back then I would abuse in the street from the very clowns I see wearing them today. I took them out about fifteen years ago but I may go with diamantes in my dotage.
well technically middle age only applies once you are dead...if you die at 20 then middle age was 10...and if you die at 60 middle age was 30
I had my ear pierced years ago(two in the left). I don't wear them very often , but the holes are still there. My sixteen yr old will bring me her earrings from time to time and I put them in for her.
I usually do not wear them to work, but I did recently. The newer people who had never seen them before acted like I had an octopus stuck on the side of my head.
Enjoy your jewelry!
At my age (65), I was thinking of something more along the line of getting my skin tags removed.
Didn't do nothin'. Bought A ´55 Thunderbird and five vintage amps...
AFter thinking about this more, it seems like you are officially "old" after the mid-life crisis, so maybe I don't want to end my 25 year mid life crisis after all.
I feel better now.
Maybe it's your personality and you're just consistent!? So yeah, keep on going!
Why don't you get them pierced!
Crisis? What Crisis?
I must be un-cool because I don't have any tats or piercings.
(totally unrelated to this post but I hope in the future that we get more cool smileys like what we have now!)
I did get a titanium plate installed on my left clavicle a couple of years ago.
I know that is not all the rage like other piercings, but it seemed appropriate at the time ... as my clavicle was in several pieces.
My boss is the age of my kids. She has tats on her wrist and ankles. I have lots more, but just barely showing and the one I'm getting today will peak out under my shirt sleeve. It's a professional health care setting.
Our side is winning.
I'm saving the mid-life Chrysler 'til I turn 80 and can't remember what I was saving it for.
Turning 40 in June & think my midlife crisis has just started - picked up my old guitar for the first time in years, now looking to buy a reissue 72 tele.
No tattoos for me - don't do pain.
At 35 I bought a Telecaster (had never even picked up a guitar before then), a Toyota Celica (same car I had in my teens) and started powerlifting (had never been to a gym in my life). Yeah I think I'm in the midlife-crisis zone, lol...
