what an inspiration, at age 81 Gordon speaking of getting back with his band and giving us a couple songs on his porch.

I love me some Gordon Lightfoot.

Sundown in particular really does it for me.

The thing with Gordon is that his songs should be terrible sounding like that. But they’re not. They’re outstanding. He’s one of the greats.

I think this highlights how important sincerity can be for a performance. He obviously doesn't sound as good as he once did, but at the same time he isn't trying to sound like that. Furthermore, he doesn't seem to be over-extending himself for this performance. Hell of a thing to be doing this at 81 for sure, but he seems to be within his comfort zone here. A competent performance where nothing is phoned in - sincerity counts for a lot.

I've always liked his music, with no exceptions that I can think of.

I just heard If You Could Read My Mind on my current Pandora station, and that one always reminds me of how well he could turn a phrase and craft a song.

he was one of those artists you never gave much thought to until you heard his albums and was always gobsmacked at how talented he really was , plus he stayed true to form with out selling out to glitz rock, a truely gifted artist.

    great video thanks for posting!

Legend. One of those guys whose songs I've been hearing for as long as I've known what a song was.

As often as I've immersed myself in his music when things in my life weren't going well for me,
it's appropriate and reasurring to hear from him again. His sincerity indeed accounts for a lot.

Love him. Had the honor of seeing him perform in person just a few years back. I love to re-visit the following audio clip of Gordon performing many years ago; his voice was so powerful and true, and that song, "The Last Time I Saw Her", always makes my heart ache.

Yes, isn’t it? In the 70s and 80s he had a nice big house in Toronto where “old money” lives, a neighborhood called Rosedale. I read that he moved further north to a part of Toronto where “new money” lives (called Bridle Path) at the insistence of his third (?) wife. Prince was a neighbour for awhile.

I’m a huge fan. The first songs I ever learned were Lightfoot’s. My first guitar was an acoustic in the mid 70s so it was songs by Lightfoot, James Taylor, Jim Croce, and Simon & Garfunkel.

As I was listening to his album Sundown tonight, it struck me that this song is just as relevant now as it was when it was written. So many of his songs are like that.
