Actually, it's an Ibanez Artist, 76 pounds. A store here on LI still has it for sale.

    $20K. That's $263.15 per pound.

Perforated sheet metal is a pretty standard product.

Except Trussart was the first to use it on a guitar.

Just shows that you can stick a pickup on anything to make a guitar. Except maybe Jello. Even then I'm not sure.

I saw it in the store. I knew better than to pick it up - my regular Artist made of wood is enough for me. :)

Didn’t Reverend make some metal topped beasts? And Gigliotti or something like that?

    Cheers,

This is my "Silver Surfer". I built it a few years back from 22ga (.028) steel. I made a wooden slug and pressed the hollow steel body in a giant press. The neck is maple with an ebony fretboard. The hot rail humbcker is located between a nice mellow single coil at the neck and a P90 in the bridge. I wired the pots "blendable" so you can add a little hot rail to add texture to neck and bridge positions. The finish is nickel and the sound is incredible, very versatile. Silver Surfer.jpg

Not as heavy as you think most of the Aluminum and steel are hollow body.

Thank you, I have built several metal body guitars and now I am getting the "acoustics" of stressed steel with Graphtech Ghost pickups. Fun fun.

I love the way metals resonate! When people ask me why I am into metal guitars I always say what are the string made out of?
