A solid steel tele would weigh about 40 lbs...

    That's not solid .... it's hollow.
I was expecting to see a tele in the 80lb range.

Probably not the best idea for an outdoors summer gig, or in winter.
In winter, having your tongue stuck to the body doing a "Jimi" might get some laughs though.

I’ve played a couple Trussarts with metal bodies. Really good guitars.

    Cheers,

Made in Europe. Italy, I think.

Back in the 1980s, I played a solid brass LP Custom clone made by Ibanez at the NAMM show. It weighed 80 lbs; I had to play it sitting and it put my leg to sleep in about 3 minutes.

I would think that very small changes in temp would give you major tuning issues.

Steel bodied Teles and Strats by Mule Resophonic in Saginaw MI are being well received.

plus, in a pinch, you can strain your spaghetti noodles with it, or probably scoop some minnows out of the pond to go fishing with...it's stainless!

I mentioned above that I played that guitar. It was either at the '79 or '80 NAMM show in Chicago. The guitar was useless. It was stupid heavy, around 80 lbs., and it didn't sound all that good. I think Ibanez made it as a joke. All you could with it was hang it on a wall, and it probably would've broken the wall hook.

I've got one (actually two, but one is a wood body with steel top). Trussart builds amazing instruments, and that one looks like they totally copped his design, right down to the perforations.
