Wondering where i can find one of these?

I believe it's called a solder tab? There's one screwed into the bottom of the pickup cavity in my Tele, with one ground wire going to underneath the bridge plate, and the other soldered to the tone pot.

I am building a partscaster, and figured I would duplicate this grounding scheme. If anyone knows where to find these, or if I have the name right, that would be great. Thanks!

are you doing some kind of shielding to the cavities (foil or carbon based paint) ? otherwise putting that (eye terminal) in does nothing.

more common to go with this if you do have issue with getting that exact deal:

Nope, no shielding. I have yet to experiment with that. I'm pretty new to wiring and soldering, so I figured I would just duplicate the grounding scheme in my G.E. Smith (essentially a 50s spec Tele). Definitely open to alternatives.
I found a place in Canader that sells the unit linked to in previous posts - 10 for 3.50.

The reason this works in your current guitar is likely because there is shielding paint in the cavity. If not, there isn't any point to screw this into anything, as it won't be connected to the circuit ground without shielding.

Hmm, good to know. I'm positive there isn't any shielding in the Fender. But I will shield the partscaster I'm building with shielding paint. Thanks.

You would need those if you go with conductive paint in the cavities. If you go with copper foil with conductive adhesive to shield the cavities you can just solder the ground wires to the shielding. I used conductive paint for years, converted to copper foil as it works just as well and it is faster, no waiting for paint to dry :) Here are some of my recent projects.

Theoretically, in the Fender, if it isn't grounding any shielding, it may act as more of an antenna than anything else. May want to remove it, or shield the cavity.

I have used them a lot. When I opened my EC Strat there was one from the factory in there between the bridge pickup and the volume pot.. When you shield a guitar they also make a great place to collect grounds while grounding the shield as you screw through the foil!

If the other end of it is connected to ground I'd think he'd be alright. At that point though he's basically just grounding extra parts that don't need to be in there in the first place.
